In Destiny, Bungie has a system where they award in-game emblems to their forum users who once reached high-ranking statuses on their website.
Shield of Heroes: Once reached Heroic forum status.
Shield of Legends: Once reached Legendary forum status.
Shield of Mythics: Once reached Mythic forum status.
I’m not the biggest Destiny fan, but I think this is a pretty cool way to recognize fans who are also active forum members.
Do you guys think that a system like this would be a nice addition to Halo 5?
[Rare Emblem] Marine Patch: Post 100 constructive forum posts and reach the ‘Marine’ rank on Halo Waypoint.
[Ultra-Rare Emblem] ODST Tattoo: Post 1500 constructive forum posts and reach the ‘ODST’ rank on Halo Waypoint.
[Legendary Emblem] Spartan Medal: Post 6000 constructive forum posts and reach the ‘Spartan’ rank on Halo Waypoint.
It’s been discussed before, but we really don’t want to become like the b.net forums.
It would also encourage spamming, plus a “constructive post” is kind of hard to track, as it’s subjective.
I think it would be cool, but don’t base it on posting. All you could really do is base it upon forum registration in order to keep it clean.
What do you get if you have 20k posts?
Asking for a friend…

I’m not encouraging that the Waypoint forums parrot the Bungie forums, just thought it would be an interesting implementation.
Also, users who routinely post pointless things get banned anyways so I don’t really think spamming would be a big issue.

Lol I doubt many Waypointers have anywhere near that post count (So I don’t necessarily think that it deserves an emblem since only a small handful would be eligible for it), but I suppose a Mythic-rarity emblem could be given to Monitors and Community Engineers. :3
Actually I really like this idea, would be a nice addition for us Waypointers.

Yeah, but you’re also creating more work for Moderators who will have their workload increase exponentially when Halo 5 actually launches. The simpler the better, IMO. It’d be cool to get a kickback for being an active community member, but it also would need to be regulated.

I thought that was an awesome idea from your post. Saw that Bungie implemented it, seems right Bungie is the greatest. Halo is stuck with 343, it’s a shame.

You get to be invisible and immune to damage and just create carnage online
I’m so close, yet so far on being a spartan…

A free jar of pickles
Good ideas, but as had been said don’t have it work through post count as all it does is encourage spamming. Plenty of other ways that emblems could be given out though like Community events or a vidmaster type quest

Don’t forget her cookies either.

Agreed. It’s like those old VBS forums where you had to buff your post count in order to access certain privileges which resulted in tons of replies that say nothing at all.

Considering the Waypoint Monitors are usually quite active, I doubt spammers would be able to run wild.

Reward achievement, not mediocrity.

Far be it from me to speak for the monitors, but I doubt they’d like this idea by the letter of its law.
Why can they not just reward us long time halo players and high ranking halo waypoint forums people

Right, I see plenty of two word responses already. “i agree”
