EXCELLENT Work On Facial Animations 343!

I couldn’t help but notice the small details in the vidoc which will ultimately, subtly, make Halo 4’s campaign an amazing experience.
One of these are facial animations…

Thomas Lasky’s ‘hero’ is apparently Master Chief. So when they meet after the events of ‘Forward Unto Dawn’ he is really impressed / surprised and you can clearly see this thanks to the awesome facial animations / graphics at 04:28 in the vidoc below. I almost thought it was a live-action for a second.

Edit: Close up shot at 01:06

Thoughts? I could also see the Captain’s ‘anger’ later on and just its much easier to see people’s emotions. I think it has something to do with the severe upgrades to mo-capping.

Have to agree, Cortana especially looks absolutely amazing, and Del Rio probably needs to brush his teeth a little more

When I look at Lasky’s facial animation and just the general quality it looks so human. You can even see his individual teeth. It looks like a high budget CGI flick.

i agree, but cant help think that in the lasky shot you described that he looks like a deranged Scottish squirrel who has just realised that master chief stole his nuts…

I can count Lasky’s and Cortana’s teeth.

Now that is extrodinary.

I think they have done a super job on campiagn.

Yeah 343 really has made a big, necessary, jump forward in this area of graphics (and others too)!

I can’t wait to see more!

It looks so good!

Yes you can also tell that Lasky isn’t trying to look like too big of a fanboy in front of the Chief, now THAT would be embarrassing!

Everything looks fantastic!

It looks so much better than past Halo games like Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and even Halo: Reach. 343 Industries have really outdone themselves in this department.

Agree completely. This is some of the best facial animations I’ve ever seen in a video game, especially on outdated hardware. I had to watch those clips repeatedly because I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Much agreed. The motion capping in this game looks like it was very successful.
