This thread is for the purpose of deciphering the seeming ARG that 343 has given us, Evil Awakens. Several of us have been sent videos and pictures which show the Didact’s symbol, followed by the text:
‘#EVIL AWAKENS’
And then, crucially, a number.
Each video has given us a number, and I think it is this which we must try to decipher.I will link each video, along with it’s number:
I’m hoping another video will turn up, this time revealing the number 12. If this is we have 05/11/12 or the 5th November 2012. This could be the ultimatum for either this ARG to be figured out, or 343’s glyphs to be deciphered.
Additionally we were linked to some pictures, which have no numbers, but in the web address they do have a code:
Evil Awakens is the ARG 343i has seemingly put out for Halo 4. It’s like a puzzle, but instead of pieces we have to scour the internet for clues that tie into the fiction of the universe.
The tricky part is sorting out the clues from the rabbit holes. Once we’ve got a good lead it usually dosen’t take long before someone decipher’s the clue, and leads us on another wild goose chase. Eventually, everything will come together and we can pat ourselves on the back.
From all I’ve been able to gather so far:
Didact is bad news. Either he, or someone like him has been around for awhile, but in a state of hibernation more or less. Now he’s back, and mainstream media is on the fritz because of it.
Most of the clues we’ve gathered so far have led to various Forerunner symbols, but we still don’t know their true purpose. Im reasonably certain they’re meant to be used as a code, or sequence of codes via the Waypoint terminal, but who knows?
If I left anything out, or need correcting please feel free to say so. I just thought a brief summary would help since this has been getting alot more attention lately.
Just wanna point out to above - the Didact’s character has been known to us through the books Cryptum and Primordium, he’s a Forerunner Warrior Servant ‘Promethean’ who eventually fired the Halo arrays. You can look a lot of this up though (he’s two people in reality)
Anyone find it strange that the Corruption effect is starting to resemble the Halo 3 terminals and their Corrupted effect as they begin to fade in and out until revealing more information O.o…

It is an ARG.
In this case, an ARG, Alternate Reality Game, is a type of marketing that attempts to create hype for a product via enigmatic pictures, codes and videos, in popular media and social networking systems.
To most halo fans, it is just a cool scavenge-hunt for information.
I’m not sure if anyone already noticed, but there’s some stuff from June in various forums about the didact corruption stuff on the espn site. And it looks like there was some text that people were translating into google translate. It seems like it died out back in June also, is anyone aware of this and does all this stuff continue from that? Because if this all started in June, isn’t it possible that we missed a whole bunch of glyphs or clues since then? Did 343 try to start an ARG but it didn’t pick up speed, so they stopped and restarted now?
That’s an interesting spot - in all honesty we’re all a bit perplexed. EvilAwakens seemingly has no resoance whith the 343 Glpyhs - yet 343 have not openly refuted Evil Awakens. This to me says that they are separate entities, but both at least sanctioned by 343i.
We really need people to start posting ideas on this thread so we can get to the bottom of it.
I’ve actually got a theroy, however. Notice the numbers at the end of every video - the Zglacier one is 4. Perhaps these correspond to another code, such as the one in 343’s glyphs.
