I just ask myself why did anyone in 343i think this was the smart way to go. Why why why. Why are they so focused on changing tradition. If it’s just an animation then why was it necessary to add. just why why why.
EDIT: I didn’t know I would start a war with this thread but let me tell you guys something. I am not opposed to change but 343 knows that the majority of the Halo community would never accept a feature that looks like ADS which opens more doors for comparison to other FPS’s. The fact that the SMARTSCOPING is only an animation and serves no other purpose then that, shows that it couldn’t been left untouched.
I just wonder if 343 asked themselves these questions:
1.) Is it necessary?: No
2.) Was there ever anything wrong with the traditional Halo aiming system?: No
3.) Will it cause more praise or more backlash?: Backlash
4.) Has the Halo community ever asked for any change to the aiming?: No
5.) Would everyone be happier if we just left it a lone?: Yes
6.) Who plays Halo more, Halo community or other FPS community?: Halo community so we should appeal to them

NO I DO NOT. I didn’t make the title and I am not the OP.
I don’t mind smart scope, in fact I like it. I only want there to be a toggleable option because even though I don’t mind I know 100s of Halo fans DO mind and I’m just thinking of them.
I want Halo to be successful and sell well.

No. Smart Scope and traditional Zoom have the EXACT same mechanics. 343i said that it is exactly as accurate as hip fire and descope is back.
The only difference is the asthetics.

The traditional zoom in comes at the cost of lack of peripherals. I would take situational awareness over quicker zoom in any day of the week.

So, the default controller scheme benefits players in the way that they can instantly scope back in once they are shot if they hold the button. If they can do that, we should have the ability to have our classic zoom.
Either that or just make classic zoom for all. There was no reason to take it out, one of the little things that made halo unique IMO.

Except that it doesn’t matter. It’s like when Bungie changed the shield HUD from Halo CE to Halo 2 to Halo 3. It doesn’t matter. It is an aesthetic change that doesn’t change gameplay any more than the classic zoom of old (except for auto weapons).

Except the hud has changed a bit in every game. The zoom feature is something halo has always had. It should at least be an option.

Let me ask you something. WHAT other damn 2015 console fps is going to have symmetrical maps, equal starts, and old school power weapon hunts? What other 2015 fps game DOESN’T slow you down when you aim. What other 2015 fps has accurate hipfire (Nice little reticles, instead of four crosshairs like COD)?

Wasn’t noticeable? Dude, the shield bar changed places, and I saw people talking mad -Yoink- about Bungie when they changed it from 2 to 3. People were whining about how it wasn’t near their radar, and how they would have to change from that. History repeats itself.

I admit, I would like an option to have it togglable.
