Everything Halo 5 did right

I made a thread like this a good while back but after the new update I feel that I need to make a new/updated thread. So without further ado here is everything Halo 5 did right :

  • Forge is amazing and is the best version ever - The custom game browser gives us infinite custom game matchmaking - The ability to switch seats on a warthog. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius - Warzone is a great addition to the series (albeit its not perfect) - Infection, BTB, Grifball, Assault, Race, KOTH, Fiesta, Action sack, Snipers (if it stays permanent) and Warzone firefight were added in post launch - Infection is very polished and is just as good if not better than Reach’s infection - The gameplay feels very smooth when running at 1080p and 60fps and there is a noticeable difference between the game and an Xbox one DVR - Classic maps like Midship, Haven, Valhalla, Sandtrap, Headlong and Standoff returned as Truth, Mercy, Viking, Altar, Guillotine and Deadlock respectively - Classic weapons like the SPNKR, Halo 2 BR, CE Magnum, Gravity Hammer, Halo 2 Beam rifle, Brute plasma rifle, Reach Grenade launcher and Sentinel Beam were all added in post launch - Classic armours like CQB, EOD, Recon Gen 1, Military police and a proper Mark V will all be added in next year - The mission design is fun and is even better when playing with friends - The plasma caster is a great addition to the series vast amount of weapons - Free DLC. Even if it was cut content 343 did a great job of constantly supporting Halo 5. What 343 should do for Halo 6 is to launch with Infection, BTB, KOTH, Oddball and all of the other essential gamemodes but then add in Invasion or add in one of the less important gamemodes without launching the game with a huge lack of content. - The original breakout. A great combination of SWAT and Capture that worked really well. I could not stress in words how disappointed I felt when 343 completely changed it - The IDEA of the Req system. Now I want to make this perfectly clear I hate the Req system, but I liked the idea of the Req system. I liked the idea of calling in weapons through a game of Warzone and the idea of having an online card game collection. Unfortunately it was ruined by RNG unlocks, Microtransactions, the inclusion of armours and over saturation of armours and helmets. - I like the Thruster. I feel it allows players to reach greater differences and also acts as a great counter attack mechanic - The promethean Knights have been heavily improved since Halo 4 and now act as a mini boss - I love Strongholds. It acts as the spiritual successor to Territories and is one of the few objective gamemodes in Halo 5 - We can disable sprint and other Spartan abilities in Customs. Remember in Halo 4 when we couldn’t disable sprint in customs well we can do that in Halo 5. - The return of de-scope. Not really a good thing but we can now de-scope when being shot at again which we couldn’t do in Halo 4 if you didn’t know already - I love the magnum. It acts as a utility weapon and is very well balanced unlike some other weapons in this game (cough AR cough) - The return of competitive Halo. Even if this resulted in the disgraceful social/objective gamemodes, lack of support for casual fans and more, at least Halo 5 wasn’t completely unbalanced like Halo duty 4. Where 343 went wrong here is that they made Halo 5 overly competitive when what they should have done was make it both competitive and casual (like what it is now). So despite being WAY too competitive at launch that issue has thankfully been fixed in the monitors bounty update. - The suppressor is now much more useful than what it was in Halo 4 - Warzone assault is one of my favourite gamemodes and is similar (although not as good) as Invasion. Shame it has a small population :frowning: - Having your own assassination animations. Allowed for some pretty cool assassinations. - More stances!!! - The soundtrack was pretty good with many memorable tracks like The trials, The light is green, Blue team, Osiris suite 3, Scavengers, The crypt, Kamchata (probably butchered that). My only complaint was that sometimes it felt a bit out of place with what was going on in the game. - The many Easter eggs in the campaign and references of characters from other games/expanded material - Some of the new armours like Hunter, Argus, Centurion were well designed and looked bad -Yoink-. - We got all of the Reach armours added back in  - The graphics were good. The only problem is that the colour scheme was -Yoink- and made everything look plastic-y and cartoonish. - They made the pul- splinter grenade useful - The sound effects were pretty good - I liked the idea of the walking around missions and they just could have been so much more…I would have said the inclusion of Blue team, The Arbiter and Buck in the campaign but since they received no character development, acted completely out of character, had no relevance to the narrative of Halo 5, had no explanation what happened to them/who they were unless you read the lore I excluded them from this list. Just said that you some people don’t hate because they were excluded from this list.

This is an opinion piece so keep that in mind. I probably forgot a couple of things while writing this so please feel free to add anything that I may have forgotten/wasn’t thinking of.
