People need to stop talking about the ‘poor’ reviews of Halo 5. It’s just getting people unnecessarily worried about the games quality.
So only listen to the good ones?
But I have to tell everyone that those different opinions from different people are wrong! /s
Destructoid – 7/10
Polygon – 9/10
Eurogamer – no score
IGN – review in progress
TIME – 3.5/5
GameSpot – “where’s our review?”
Ars Technica – “Come for the multiplayer”
Hardcore Gamer – 4/5
US Gamer – 4/5
AR12 Gaming – 9/10
Pixel Vulture – 94/100
Pennyworth Reviews – 3.8/5
Pretty solid scores. Campaign is ok and multiplayer is awesome. Whats the problem people? This is going to be the best halo game since H3.
I agree with OP. Modern journalism can be poor; bias is rampant. Big sites tend to be paid off as well. Avoid indie-centric sites; they tend to hate AAA.
Judge for yourself. Critics, in every medium, are elitists often out of touch with the interests of the normal consumer. Don’t let them ruin your experience before you’ve even had it.
Ign smashed the campaign pretty hard, though.
I always say take reviews with a grain of salt and at the end of the day it’s your opinion that matters, but I don’t think reviews should just be simply ignored. Especially if you can see a recognizable theme why the game’s overall score is getting a bit dragged down. We see a unanimous praise for MP, but we see the story part being mentioned as a lower point of the game’s review. It’s simply there and it is telling somewhat. Warrants some concern, but ultimately shouldn’t be setting up a presupposition for you.
What I was originally trying to say was not to ignore the bad ones and listen to the good ones, but to make up your own mind by actually playing it and to not get worried about the reviews.
Poor reviews are important when it comes to building a population, and let’s be honest the Halo population has taken a huge hit the last couple of years, the reviews don’t matter to you and me because we are Halo fans, but it affects us in the long run because people may not buy the game if there are a lot of poor reviews. Personally, I think the reviews are pretty good with all the missing content at launch, if they reviewed the game two months from now they would be all better. I hope these poor reviews will make 343 release content faster.

How do you know it’s unnecessary? Those poor reviews could be spot on.

Ok, maybe it might not be unnecessary but people shouldn’t be getting outraged before they even play the game.
There have been a lot of games I played that had terrible reviews, but I still enjoyed playing those games. Reviews really only mean something when you skeptical on buying a game (though its 10x better to try the game for yourself rather then have someone with a different perspective/opinions then you tell if its bad) or when someone doesn’t like the game and tries to use reviews to win an argument/debate.
you think?
prepare for later tonight for read the complaint threads…i can smell it. grab the popcorn
Isn’t it better to make a well informed decision rather than just going with the hype and end up disappointed?
I’ve been playing Halo since CE, so I know what to expect, but if you have any doubts about purchasing a game, I suggest that you take a moment and listen to them. Buying a game because of hype will eventually lead to you being horribly burnt.
I give this topic an 8/10
There is not that many poor reviews. (2 so far out of 40 on metacritic) so i dont know what your talking about
I´ll stay away from reviews…until I play at least a few missions and matches. With that…my FIRST IMPRESSION isn´t manipulated by any other impressions.

Well now I just saw what I was avoiding
great , I know it’s my own fault for looking at it
can’t wait for this evening to play
I know this may sound silly, but my problem with reviewers saying the story is poor because they don’t follow it sometimes bothers me when it comes to a series of something. Like this is the 5th game in the MC storyline, at this point I feel like writers of Halo shouldn’t have to tend to newcomers all the time and make sure they know every single thing. Like an author isn’t writing the 7th entry in a series of books with new readers in mind, but the fans of the series. So when these sites say they don’t like the story bc they don’t understand it I tend to take it for a grain of salt because more often than not they aren’t really that big into the lore and expect the entire story to be laid out for them rather than diving deeper into it which is something I feel like many Halo fans do. I for one am still excited for the game and can’t wait to dive into the story and see whether or not I like it personally. Hopefully that made sense
