Everyone is complaining about low cosmetics, but I don't think people have thought about the REAL question yet .

. . . Are we ever going to see the Mark VI Gen-3 be a playable Armor Core?
Are we going to be able to cosplay as John, Fred, Kelly, and Linda again?

Halo 4 redesigned Master Chief’s armor and we only could use pale immitations of Chief in multiplayer using the Mark VI Gen-2 or the Mark V Gen-2.

Then Halo 5 came around and made his redesign a Gen-2 model . . . . but we can only equip Mark IV, Mark V Alpha, Mark V Delta, and Mark VI-Gen-2 while not being able to truly dress up as Master Chief.
Halo 5 made this even worse with how fans kept on dressing up as Fred, Kelly, Linda, and Chief to recreate Blue Team while also dressing up as Locke, Vale, Buck, and Tanaka to recreate Osiris . . . . . . but you could never wear Chief’s actual armor.

Will 343 finally break this cycle and allow the Mark VI Gen-3 to be an Armor Core for use in multiplayer . . . . or will we simply never be able to wear Chief’s armor ever again?

It’d be a popular cosmetic for sure. But maybe too popular that we will see everyone wearing it? That said, we’re so low on customisation as it is no one really looks that unique.

Except chief’s armor was the default in prior games, and its not like it was particularly popular once you unlocked alternatives.

But that was the issue.
It was default.
In Halo 4 I saw more people wearing Mark VI items because you had to beat the game on Legendary to unlock it.
So making it have some difficulty leveling would add value to it and thus, players would likely wear it as a badge of honor.
Similar to Achilles, Olive, Rogue, or the Hayabusa Katana.

Maybe they have it shelved for a future DLC or cash shop. By omitting it they can create demand for it. Same way players expected similar levels of customisation. They’ll find a way to sell it back to us.

This makes a ton of sense on one level (big demand would likely exist for Mk VI GEN3, so it ought to perform well as a shop item).

But on the other hand, 343 has always designed their MP armor suites to exclude Chief’s in-game armor. In H4, they gave us access to a janky GEN2 version of MkVI for completing the campaign on Legendary, but that didn’t look at all like the MkVI MOD from the campaign (or even much like the GEN1 Mk VI from Halo 2-3, sadly…). Then they did the same thing in H5.

I can only guess at why they’ve persisted in blocking Chief’s armor from players (keep Chief distinct visually?), but it’s been a common theme. Bungie conversely leaned very heavily into Chief’s armor being the default until Reach (granted, H3 was the only game prior to that where there were any alternatives). But even in Reach, they provided very spot on Mk V and VI helmets that resembled graphically updated but faithful versions of the ones Chief wore in CE-H3 (IMO).

Infinite brought back the Mk VI for the Mk VI [B] core, which is certainly cool to have for an option. But I’m wondering if that’s honestly as close as they intend on getting to allowing players to recreate Chief’s look.

Everyone complain about cosmetics and armor core, the real question is: when are we going to get playable grunts?

Aren’t those cosmetics?

Yeah one of the biggest issues with cosmetics in this game is that nothing is earned, it’s purchased. The only thing you “earn” is some terrible looking coatings. Some are okay, but so many are terrible or asymmetrically colored.

Nothing in this game has status or prestige. It only has monetary value and that’s not impressive.

And the Furtive Pygmy (Helioskrill), so easily forgotten…

Nope.
We have Mark VI Gen-I Prototype Models in the Mark VI Bravo as a helmet.
We have Mark V Zeta on the Mark VII.

343 has been terrible at giving players Master Chief’s armor for multiplayer.

Hold on. You don’t mean a possible Mark VI [B]? Does that even exist? I’d love to see what that looks like if it’s anything like the Mark V [B]

I think the problem is we’re only in Season 2.

We should be knee deep in Season 3 and getting ready for Season 4.

We’re probably a fair way behind where we should be. Some of the things people are crying out for may already have been in their hands.

Yup they managed to sell people default red 3 seperate times, I’m for sure expecting them to seel this, and not in my nensoldo bundle, like the knee and shoulders maybe be sold In a Seperate bundle.

This game is just crowd funding system for other projects really

The really is not much for Live service.

Comparing it to other live service games it is rather behind on cosmetics, and the thing is it’s a F2P game where cosmetics are key to making money, so you would think they would be on top of getting as many cosmetics out the door and just bombarding us with so many robust options to buy or Earn. Like 1 reward for a weekly kinda feels weak. I was thinking a bundle of items for the weekly, and some long term commendations that earn us more rewards.

Overall I think the F2P mTX model was a last second rushed design, that was most likely decided when Microsoft/Xbox took a peak at what 343 had been working on prior to the E3;trailer and we’re not liking how they didn’t learn and decided look make it F2P and let’s just recoup our loss and we can add in stuff later, we can buy you 1 more year of time but get it out the door and get us out initial investment back

This was never a 343 issue. Even Bungie made sure you could never look exactly like chief or arbiter.
Halo 1 through 3: No color perfectly matched Master Chief, and his armor was the default.
Halo Reach: You could get his voice, and helmets, but still not exact color and armor again.
A Mark VI Gen-3 core isn’t off the table, but I don’t think we will be able to match with chief 1:1. Maybe we will get a kit, but I have a feeling the kits will be missing some items. I imagine it would be like the spartan II number on the chest. But I doubt we ever match chief exactly because both Bungie and 343 thought that having a bunch of Chief clones running around in multiplayer devalues that character. (Even though most of us just want to have more armor options regardless of where the armor comes from.)

  • Mark VI Gen-3 is the one we have in Halo Infinite, and honestly we do need as both an Armor Core and as Cross-Core Cosmetics

If we were supposed to receive a Mark VI Bravo Armor Core, or in the very least a Mark VII Gen-1 model; it would have to be THIS model in the following images

Beat the entire campaign and find all skulls.

Been there, done that.

I mean that should be the challenge to beat to get the armor.
