Everyone is aware...

that its to late to add or change button layouts right? Theres a lot of people who want layouts changed or new ones added, but at this point in development its not possible. The game is 2 months away the game is essentially done they are just fine tuning every thing and getting rid of bugs. There is no time to change or create new button layouts as that would just create more bugs.

Those of you who do want layouts changed should perhaps at least try the new layouts first before condeming them, also it doesn’t take much to adapt to a new button layout. But if you do find yourself hating every layout, that would be the time to provide your criticism to 343.

Oh and remember that all of these layouts were play tested extensively if there was something wrong with them 343 would have changed them in fact the ones we see now were probably changed a few times.

So lets not be to hasty with these button layouts ok.

I now that I could find one that would suit me just find.

As far as I understand, the coding for controls to a XBOX controller is not as hard as that of the coding of an actual AI or map design.

If it’s just a switch of two button’s, they merely need to swap the code for the actions with which button they need to be assigned.

Simple as that, of course testing is involved but they have time. If they have time to decode and recode bugs in the map design, AI, NPC AI, Promethean AI, and so on. Then I certainly think they can find time to swap two actions on a button layout.

Its called release day title update. Impossible is nothing.

I’m fine with the Default option. Hope to see someone else, too.

Has everyone forgotten that 343 said button layout schemes will be heavily customizable??

They also said that custom button mapping requires too much time and debugging aswell, also they said there were millions of schemes (figuratively) and look how much there are now.

I know it doesn’t take that much coding for the button controls, but with the amount of bugs in the game right now there wouldn’t be enough time, theres a lot to do they don’t want to worry about button layouts when they could fix a bug that makes chief fly off screen or something. As of right now they have about 6-8 weeks to finish fine tuning everything and then the game ships out.

Also them showing the button layouts is pretty much clarification that they are final.

But it has Crouch on B! :frowning:

The controls changed between all titles and we had to get used to them.

Halo 2 brought in dual wielding.

3 moved the reload from x to the bumper and introduced equipment.

Reach moved the reload back to x, substituted equipment for armour abilities then put it on the left bumper and put melee on the right bumper.

The change in Halo 4 is no different to the previous games. There didn’t seem to be an outcry over the previous changes. IMO Recon seems to be the one most like Halo 3 default and perhaps should have become the default Halo 4 one (and no it does not make sprinting difficult having it on x. :-D).

There could be a day one update and the game is not yet Gold, how is it too late?

everyone needs to stop being spoiled brats and just accept the fact the the controls are different. They have changed with every release. Get over it.
