Everyone had the same co-op idea except for 343

That would be nice.
If they made the boss fights more dynamic especially. For coop play like that it doesn’t need to be story rich to be a lot of fun. I enjoy Monster Hunter and that has almost no story but the coop gameplay is great.
Imagine your idea with a Gravemind boss or something at the end of a mission?

I’m really worried though about any new modes/features for this game. 343I is still trying to get basic Halo staples to work 6 months into the launch, and major bugs persist like desync.
My guess is we won’t get anything resembling a complete package for another 6 months at the earliest.
Which makes me wonder how long it will take to make new features or modes work for this game.

If we get anything near a complete functional game in 6 months I will name my first born son Taco. That is how little I have faith in this current design.

And it pains me to say that. I love halo, and I’ve been super flexible and love most of not every instalment. However, lack of game modes like infection, or even FireFight just baffle me.

If it’s the case of they’re ready but not polished why not say so? A lot of people would understand. But the problem is how predatory the game is with FOMO, and customization.

It’s no surprise to me that something like co op Spartans being chief clones are the route they went. Heck it took an elite fan bashing his head against the Twitter wall to get a response.

And to answer your question absolutely. Revamped boss fights would be fun. H5’s warzone showed it could be done. That and the joy of an open world, two teams exploring and conquering. Oh yeah it’d be a blast.

Infection is my favorite MP mode in Halo. I remember people trying to explain it to me in custom games for Halo 2 and thinking it was stupid at first haha.
Can’t imagine that they need to reinvent the wheel for such a simple game mode, but maybe the slipspace engine is really hard to use.

It really is insult to injury when they release a game after 6 years of development that is pretty barebones, lacking franchise staples, with a major bug like desync but a fully functional overpriced FOMO cosmetic shop. I haven’t played in months but the free battlepass was pretty horrible. Not sure if that changed.

I’m a more campaign oriented player, so having Halo Reach be the only one with real campaign armor customization is very disappointing. MCC seems to be working towards that potentially, but not sure if they even plan on taking it further than weapon and vehicle skins.

The recent battle pass isn’t bad at all. There’s actually a pretty decent exchange rate of free and not.

The issue is just that fomo store, desync, bugs and content. I fly believe we are still a year away from the actual drop and we’re playing an alpha. What also makes me mad is they have NO problem with PC gamers modding Thier games but GOD FORBID Xbox mods the MCC. Us filthy little gamer piggies would have too much fun and wouldn’t play anything else.

So upset.

Like i don’t get why they made multiplayer “canon” if they aren’t going to do anything with our multiplayer spartans in the campaign like for real just have the first few missions having the multiple chief situation while having our multiplayer Spartans take over as the co-op models from there(if they really want to use the excuse the only Spartan there was chief during the beginning of the game)

Players: yippee my spartan is cannon does that mean i can use them in co op campaign
343:heck no this is the chiefs story get those expectations out of here and be a excited to be a clone again

I’ve seen a lot of mods for both MCC and Infinite that just load your multiplayer Spartan over Chief, so 343 not doing it is just likely excuses or laziness. I can only hope for Halo Infinite Spartan Ops I guess. We spend all this time and money on our Spartan customization, and can’t use them in Co-op. A shame really.

@xXx_Mhx_Air_xXx and @Majin_Eclair I could agree more. Especially on the excuse or laziness. But the whole point of Spartan canon at this point is an excuse to not put elites in. They say Spartan story Spartan story. Halo isn’t just a Spartan story and hasn’t been since 3.

If they wouldn’t be such babies about Xbox modding and since the obviously have no problem bringing other studios in why not use a good portion of those studios for the flag ship game. Churn it into this massive shooter title with a functioning open world firefight, forge with ai and a campaign with options to do with as you desire AFTER you complete the campaign.

Good god this better not be the case, it will though, it will.

Actually 343 themselves said Infinite is a Spartan story not a master chief story, Custom Spartans are still Spartans

The UI probably doesn’t support it…

Halo 5 had two sets of characters. Which was pretty well in the vein of Halo 3. Spartan Ops also went the Reach route of having the characters be our actual Spartans. Funny how our multiplayer Spartan playing a canon role in the story was already a thing twice and yet it’s being presented as some big new thing in Infinite.

But yes, that doesn’t excuse Infinite not doing the same thing for players 2-4. That said there is always the possibility that what we are seeing in Infinite’s coop so far is still considered a placeholder. And/or that the heavily implied shift in the Halo franchise from Master Chief to our own Spartan as the main character won’t happen as early as the second or third campaign dlc, at which time coop will be able to reflect that change.

It’d be more interesting if 2, 3 and 4 were not just clones of Master Chief appearance wise.

Would also add a lot more value to investing in customization of your Spartan as well. Giving people more reason to actually buy cosmetics.

Doesn’t mean also that they couldn’t update the game later to change it if it does turn out to be just all Master Chiefs too.

Coop Campaign doesn’t have to be canon and the Multiplayer doesn’t have to be either. I don’t know why 343 keeps trying to make this a thing.

Yes but it’s pretty much unanimously agreed upon that both H4 Spartan Ops and the entirety of Halo 5’s campaign was disappointing.

I agree wholeheartedly

soo… what you’re saying is that if there is no custom spartans in the campaign, 343 can eat those words of theirs?

Yes, but being able to play as your Spartan, and haiving different characters to select in 5’s coop wasn’t the issue itself.

Both had a lackluster story. And the issue with 5 was that the characters you had to choose from, with the exceptions of Master Chief and Buck, sucked. (Blue Team is awesome in Lore but were extremely underwhelming in 5)

I disagree. I

On the Spartan ops that is. I thought ops would’ve been AMAZINGLY recieved if a separate fire fight would’ve dropped beside it. Objective based halo PvE matches were awesome

Chief is not a Mary Sue, as far as the extended fiction goes. He earned his status. I do agree however that having a story about the quarterback, prom king, top cop, or best of the best saving the universe every single time again and again and …

It does get old. I think that’s why Reach and ODST have a special place for fans. Their not underdog stories per say. More what the rest of what the UNSC goes through. Whether by the skin of their teeth or by making sacifices.

This. Honestly still waiting for a client side option to play as our custom MP armors for MCC Halo 3. They’ve already enabled weapon skins for MCC campaign afterall.

In fact, there are already mods which apply this to the H3 campaign on MCC, of course only in single player mode or else Easy Anti Cheat will bust your account.
