Every Unit needs atleast 1 upgrade.

Am I the only one who is botered by the fact that most units have no Upgrades?

Here’s my Upgrade subjection for some units.
Blisterback: Extra Cannons.
Effect: Blisterbacks shoot more Missiles per burst.

Reaver: Steel Plates
Effect: Reavers shields have more health.

Elite Rangers: Beam Rifles
Carbines are replaced with Beam Rifles, increasing the damage per shot.

Drop your suggestions below.

Yes, all units need more upgrades. This has been requested time and time again.

There’s no a lack of suggestions also. There’s plenty of room for upgrades.

I hope this is maybe something we could see down the road. Could really diversify the meta big time and expand the skill gap even more.

I think just simple tweaks of what units had in HW1 would be nice.

Like one that gives Elite Rangers shields, because they’re freaking Elites, and should have shields.

would be welcomed by me, the fact that elite rangers are outclassed so heavily by snipers and we can’t even upgrade them to have beam rifles is a bit stingy, and what happened to needlers and fuel rods ?

By default the marine squad is equipped with assault rifles, then we have an upgrade which gives one marine a rocket launcher and gives it the ability to heal nearby units. How about another upgrade which gives one guy a battle rifle and increases range? Just thinking out loud here.

I think all units should have at least one upgrade. Perhaps even super units though I can understand why you shouldn’t.

Or I dunno, a cloak? Anyone find it strange that Elites who are known for cloaking and shielding have neither, while UNSC Snipers have cloaking? As far as I remember only the Spartan III’s really used “cloaking” with their SPI armor.

Even using the HW1 stuff there’s plenty of stuff to work with, or the plethora of ideas posted on the forums.

Edit: Might be the only thing that everyone on the forums will agree with lol

Agreed about Elites not having Shields or Cloak. That’s grinds my gears for sure. I think Warthogs should get back the Grenadier upgrade. Adds a passenger with a SPNKR. I mean the tankier Maurader gets to fire a missile by default and can be upgraded with Shields. What gives?

Totally agree. To be fair, I’d like all units to have 3 upgrades unless they’re uber units like in the original.

Kodiak:
Shrapnel rounds: Deals extra damage to infantry OR Incendiary rounds: Extra damage to infantry + lasting area damage (similar to the wraith’s scorch ability)
Shield: Adds a shield to protect against close range attacks while you pack up and move

Shroud:
Increased cloak time: *self explanatory
Self preservation: All shrouds are permanently cloaked
Enhanced defence: Can block more projectiles

If I think of more I will add them

I agree about the wart hog especially since kinsanos wart hogs have a passenger with a rocket launcher.

maybe… just maybe… a suggestion for super units would be: Rather than just having a straight up enhancement/upgrade, it allows you the option to upgrade at the cost of something else…

So maybe something like, damage buff for health nerf… increased range for health nerf…

I agree with you all and i think maybe for the scorpion maybe an gunner or passengers?

Upgrades right now are only used to make early-game units viable late-game for a cost, and I think that’s a good system. In HW1, you had to get at least two upgrades per unit to make them able to beat anything, wolverines, flamethrowers, cobras, and practically all covenant units being perfect examples. IMO, these only existed to expand the length of games, and since slow build times, bigger maps, slower air units, and active leader powers already fill that role, there really is no reason to add these massive amounts of upgrades.
