Every Tuesday... Quitters come out to play

Are people actually buying them? Like seriously.

Say what you want about bots, but they play the objective.

The challenge swaps likely don’t yield enough profit to risk running off the player base. By some estimates the game’s population is 5% of what it was at launch and even if those estimates are inaccurate- it’s definitely on a downward trajectory. Battle passes and cosmetics sales are more reliable form of monetization.

I have one challenge to complete a stronghold match and another to complete two. All I am getting is CTF.

The feedback on challenges has been very consistent… That the challenge system is bad. I’m not sure why they are so against implementing the challenge system similar to the way they did in MCC.

True enough. But this challenge system has made it so much worse

I’ve wondered this too. Does anyone actually buy challenge swaps from the store? Is that actually a big enough source of income for 343 that it would prevent them from making challenges less specific? I personally don’t know of anyone who has purchased them but I’d be interested in knowing if anyone has actually purchased them.

There are definitely some challenges that I swap immediately when I see them but I still have a bunch of swaps that I got from Rockstar Energy Drink codes.

Saw this on Reddit and thought it was a good idea.

Change challenge swaps to challenge skips. Automatically completes a given challenge removing it from the list and granting XP.

This will alleviate the tediousness of bad challenges and remove the risk of getting an equally bad or worse challenge.

It will also give skips more value from the store. So it’s a win for both sides.

But then 343 can’t boost the population on unpopular playlists, especially event playlists that people are tired of playing. How much Fiesta did we have to play in Season 1?

There would still be plenty of people that refuse to buy skips, and theyve reduced the amount granted from the BP.

So I don’t think that will be an issue.

Forcing people to play unpopular playlists isn’t a good thing by any means. It only serves to frustrate the people that actually enjoy those playlists.

Ranked matches for example. Don’t give me a challenge to play X amount of games in ranked or cumulative score. That will be an instant skip for me. And I’m sure the people that do enjoy ranked will appreciate me not being there giving a half -Yoink!- effort or just being entirely afk affecting the ranks of everyone else in the match.

This is why you can’t force competitive games into the FTP business model. Can FTP be competitive, yes, but the whole business is based on pushing “cool dangleys” and FOMO, which means that people will quit to chase that carrot, because the carrot is now more valuable than the W in most players minds.
