These two customization options have gone untouched throughout the seasons, and they seem like no Brainers considering how relatively easy they would likely be to implement.
I would say Emblems are ok as is. But they definitely should add more avatars. Plus add the option to display a customized Spartan from any game as your avatar… Want to show off my new back bling!
I am definitely down for a lot more avatars to be added. Way overdue.
Yes, new emblems and avatars would be great, some of my ideas would be to have every character from all of the Halos there, along with holding different weapons as well, and maybe in different vehicles if possible.
I feel that more avatars are needed, maybe in a future update many more will be implemented.
Emblems probably won’t ever be touched again. Games that display emblems in game (basically ever title except for CE) would have to be updated to include the new emblem images. It took them a year to fix the smiley face emblem in Reach and for the longest time the emblems in H2 and H3 were default in game. For such a small detail the amount of work to get emblems to play nice with all games in the collection seems like a nightmare. The MCC features every emblem from every title before H5 which is more than enough to play with.
Emblems still don’t work 100% yet. If you use any emblem that was added post launch it reverts to the default emblem here on Waypoint which is probably because the new emblem images were never added on here.
I like the idea of adding more avatars and emblems. It would be fun to see more characters from the different halo games.

I’d honestly be satisfied if they just replaced the avatars and added the ability to show your Spartan from whichever game you choose. If not then more avatars would definitely be more welcome! Could end up being new seasonal rewards.
Agreed, OP. There’s still a lot they can do with Avatars.
I never really understood the idea of the Avatars.
Personally, I’d prefer them to scrap the Avatar system, and allow you to chose which of your MP Spartans you want as your Avatar, then have a selection of unlockable backgrounds to go behind them; everything from campaign spaces to areas on multiplayer maps from across all the games.
But it’s a bit late in the day for that to be honest.
It would be nice to see some new emblems though.
