Ever been stuck on a part that was actually easy?

Thought this topic could give a good laugh as we look back on our past derps on the Halo games.

For me it was the fight with Regret in Halo 2 when I recently gave the game a try. “Take him out” Cortana says, so I fire weapons at him, nothing but a few grunts from plasma grenades under him. “His throne is shielded, get close” Cortana clarifies, I then jump in his face and slash around an energy sword, still nothing. Turns out all I needed to do (after a google search) was press the interact button next to his throne and then punch the guy, felt a bit silly after discovering that and spending a half hour trying to figure it out in game. :stuck_out_tongue:

I remember getting really lost my first time around on Two Betrayals. I suspect I’m not alone in that regard, but now that I know where I’m going it seems a bit silly.

Flying the banshee through the tunnels of Two Betrayals (? I don’t know level names that well) when you had to get out and open up the giant doors to get through the next tunnel. I exit the banshee, checkpoint pops, I die of fall damage (fall damage in CE was really dumb, change my mind). I respawn out of the banshee, die of fall damage again, rinse and repeat until I realized I’d have to restart the whole level. That really sucked.

I’m gonna be honest here, I’m not as good at campaignin as I once was. I did a playthrough of the Master Chief Saga playlist on MCC back in January and died at least 15 times throughout each game. I attribute this to my taking a break from Xbox during the fall of 2018 due to college. I’m back in the habit of playing now so, I’m doing fine now.

One time I literally got lost between exiting the maintenance corridors and the lifeboat on Pillar of Autumn. Not my proudest moment.

Another time I accidentally walked off a ledge in Silent Cartographer, only to somehow trigger a checkpoint as soon as I stepped off. -Yoink!-.

I used to get very lost in pillar of autumn (CE) despite it being a pretty straight forward, small map. I also used to not be able to find Dares helmet on Mombasa streets, I used to think that it was in one if the rooms on the second floor, not on the top floor in the screen.

I gotta agree with some of the other people that have commented on this, the Pillar of Autumn’s corridors were pretty freaking confusing sometimes.

Halo 3 Mission 9: Cortana. I got so stuck, lost, and backtracked on this mission as a kid. Mind you I was like 9 when playing this mission, but it made me almost never want to re-play it. I know it’s definitely not a fan favorite, and it’s not really all that “easy”, but that is truthfully the first mission that comes to mind.

We all know 343 Guilty Spark can be a bit of a maze to work through once the Flood is finally revealed… but for me, multiple times I would get lost, back track without even knowing it, make my way back to where I initially got lost, and then magically realize there was a door I didn’t notice the first time around for some strange reason. Half the time I was convinced the game was messing with me lol.

Several times in The Library as a kid. It didnt help that everything looked the same and if you were not careful in following Guilty Spark you could end up walking down an entire corridor into a dead end with the Flood behind you.

I think back when I first played Sacred Icon/Quarantine Zone in Halo 2. The mission itself is only a little tough, but hhhhOOOH man, navigating that mission felt like a maze at times, especially during one of the green, foggy Flood sections.

I honestly can’t remember which game, much less which mission it was, but I couldn’t figure out how to continue forward at one point because I couldn’t tell which way to go.

It might have been Halo 3

There was a hill, but I just couldn’t see it because it blended right in with the rest of the scenery. I was so frustrated and felt like such a noob because I was stuck on a Campaign mission

If anything could stop me, it wasn’t going to be that I was playing with all skills turned on or that I was playing on Legendary, it was going to be the fact that I didn’t know my way! Agh!!!

Halo 2, during the Gondola ride on the way to pulverize Regret like an absolute madman. That other gondola intercepted, and was full of Grunts, and at least two had fuel rod cannons.

I hadn’t played through CE in a very very long time and I decided to in October of 2018, on The Maw it took over an hour for me to get the grenades in the engines to destroy them, kept missing so much, didn’t have a rocket launcher so I kept having to scrounge for nades and kept missing the engines while the flaps were up
