EVA combat in Halo?

Do you think we’ll ever see EVA combat in Halo 4 (or any Halo)?

I know we’ve got a glimpse of it with the Anchor 9 map, as well as in the first level of Halo 2, but I’m talking about something way more developed than just higher jump heights in limited spaces.

This video demonstrates EVA combat in open spaces, which is more like it. But I feel that nowadays it could be even better!

Campaign & Spartan Ops - I can imagine some pretty cool levels where the Chief (or your Spartan IV) is tasked with either defending a ship/orbital structure from an invasion force landing on the outside AND/OR attacking an enemy ship/orbital structure.

The end of ‘the Fall of Reach’ comes to mind, where John, Linda and Fred (I think it was Fred?) are tasked with defending and re-gaining control of an Orbital Defence Gun from covenant forces.

Multiplayer - I think there could be some amazing maps or game types using solely EVA game play. This could range from simple slayer in a zero G (very similar to the video linked above) to a kind of Assault/Defend game type. Each team could have a base (a space station, for example) and teams are tasked with traversing a zero G environment (such as an asteroid field) to reach and assault the enemy bases. This would work well with CTF.

TL:DR - The addition of well developed EVA combat and maps has the potential for some great game play in both Campaign and Multiplayer.

Would be fun yeah.

Small side note here though: John, Linda and Fred were tasked with wiping a docked ship’s databanks at the end of the Fall of Reach.

Oh yeah, that was it! It’s been so long since I’ve read that book. Got some of the things mixed up ;p

I would like some of those spartan ops missions.

In campaign and spec ops it would be great, I stand behind you 100% that some great experiences could be had. Especially since in the lore it hapens relatively often, it could open a few doors.
Multiplayer however, I don’t see it working. For starters game play would be much slower, Halo is known for being more of athink before you shoot kinda deal, but having it so that some control in run speed and a loss of gravity would lead a game to take more time to complete with people finding those flying through the air harder to hit. Objectives could potentially be easier as people would find ways of throwing flags/bombs whatever across the map. No, if we were to have zero-G there would have to be a gametype just o suit it really

Yeah, this could be one of the things that make Halo 4 super unique, like Invasion did to Reach

This could also go hand in hand with the development of space battles.

I would like to draw your attention to SaltyKoalaBear’s thread. It’s what gave me the idea for this thread!

Maybe it could be a branch off game, where you can engage in third person space-ship battles and first person EVA combat

we did see EVA combat for a little bit in Reach. When you go and take over the Covie cruiser you do fight some elites while out in space. But that said I would love to have a larger portion of a mission doing EVA
