Eurogamer and E3 campaign inconsistency?

First off, love those dust cloud spinning portals.

On to the topic.

The Eurogamer campaign shown earlier today was of the third level of the campaign. Evidently, Chief and Cortana are trying to tell the UNSC Infinity to turn around, while the Infinity believes that the FuD is inside and decides to go for a rescue. Cortana, at that point, knows of the prometheans, and it is shown different Forerunner weapons. However, in the E3 campaign mission, we can assume it takes place after this one, because at the end of the Eurogamer campaign mission, the Chief finds what is presumed to be a cryptum (The orange light floating ball scanner thing, which we can assume is the main enemy, The Didact, because the covenant want to ally with them too.). However, during the mission where the Chief heads towards the Infinity (E3), while he knows of the Cryptum, it is as if the Promethean weapons and races they both have no idea of.

The E3 campaign demo was tampered with, per Frankie, for the show. Continuity in that demo is wrong

I posted this question on another forum, but apparently it has been heavily modified from what was shown at e3 for it to fit the proper cannon of the game. It was just to show off stuff with little spoilers.

I would assume that the shocked reactions of Cortana and Chief were placed into the E3 demo build in an effort to mirror the awe that the audience would have felt experiencing the game for the first time. In fact as far as we know that build was only intended for demonstration purposes, the final iteration of that level may greatly differ in the actual game.

I remember, i think FRANKIE somewhere said the E3 build was totally different from how it actually is in the game.

The E3 build won’t be part of the game. The level itself yes but it will play much differently.

What do you mean, why was it tampered with and why is it wrong?

They did it to show off the prometheans and infinity. They made it play out like we hadn’t seen them before, but we actually meet them the mission before.
Seriously guys, Devs do this ALL THE TIME for demos.
Also don’t be surprised if this demo isn’t the same as the campaign, at least not entirely.

Oh right i understand what you are talking about now. So i wonder why cortana says the things in the E3 demo like when chief asks what are promethean knights and crawlers and cortana relies “unknown” and “they’re definitely not covenant”.

So the dialogue and reactions of are not going to make sense when playing that mission from E3 after the one we just watched.

Exactly, the dialogue and some of the scripted events will change, but the level layout and whatnot won’t change.

E3 build wasn’t even the current build when it was presented at E3. They took an older build and polished it up for the demo, while continuing to work on the actual game.

What dinoman said

Also yes developers do it all the time. Bioware and Crytek to name two at the top of my head for instance

The dialogue will be different in game.

Yeah the E3 demo was just to show us the enemy. The actual level in the E3 demo is structured differently.
