I have been trying to get into playing a bit more H5, but there is one bug bear that I just can’t overcome.
Its stoping any long term involvement for H5 for me.
Connection issues from latency… IE shotguns hitting me from miles away, being shot around corners.
small percentage of connecting hits landing. (you just get that feeling its just not right)
I play 4v4. I also play starcraft and follow esports. So get the whole competitive play thing….
The gamely is solid, the maps are decent. BUT what is going on with the connection and latency when playing from Scotland (UK).
Some games feel better than others, but its just horrendous and stopping me developing playing longterm.
I am tech enough to know that I have a broadband connection (FTTC) with
Speedtest pings at about 34/35 MS
I have OPEN nat so nothing holding up the story at my end.
XBox Iive latency is 170MS presume this pings to US server? Rather than UK or EU
I play with my brother (same city) and he get the same issues.
I am going into game chat, and get people from EU but as often I am getting North Americans.
As a Gamer into my 30’s, I have played a fair bit of games in my time and there is still life in the twitch responses.
But I can’t sit down to improve, get movement distance timing throws maps all improving, getting a team together.
Its pointless until there is more consistency of connection…
So until there is definitive reason for my game not feeling right I am having to close the curtain on playing the game.
If for any reason I am connecting to the EU, I’ll (as bart says) eat my shorts.
Until then its another potential game that never making it with me and my mates.
we have a 101 page long thread on the topic , they have confirmed that we are complaining and are “lokking in to the matter” but that’s all so fare , maybe we are lucky and get som love next patch , or just gets ignored as usual , its a 50/50 gamble at best
I would be happy to wait until they come online or some sort of explanation.
I’d prefer to know what the story is as makes such a difference when playing, its essentially a different game if your connection is matched with the player base.
I see people on the forums talking about azure servers, locations here there and everywhere.
But SC2 - select Europe.
Counter Strike, - Select Servers
Its a no brainer for competitive play to have people going on a consistent level connection, hence why LAN comps exist. This is not rocket science to anyone.
I’ll be interested to see the UK EU player base to see if they are having the same issues as myself and my Brother from Scotland…

Thanks for this meetmareli, I did read some of this thread, but did loose the will to live. Thanks for the comment, and fingers crossed, as I’d like to take this off the shelf space that has been dusted for the game currently…
I am from Sweden and I have the same issues. The most annoying thing is when getting killed when you can clearly see that you are not in the line of sight of the attacker (on my screen). Obviously I am on the attacker’s. And then we have shot placement. On my screen I very often see that my aim is on spot but I am still missing. I agree, it is time to cough up some european dedicated servers. I can’t see how Halo can’t be as popular in Europe as it is in the U.S. I want to play at 30-50ms latency but I am most likely at 150-200ms (based on LoL ping comparison EU vs NA).

Yup. Pisses me off every time. It is the definition of unfair. But I am pretty confident in 343 to fix it.

I hope so, but not in this patch….
Game has potential, just connection issues need to be resolved and it’ll be class….
Since last week I’ve been getting the message that my Lentency is poor and I could have trouble connecting to the dedicated server. It’s been like this for two weeks and yes I have no trouble with Gears, KI, BF4 or COD. Did they turn off the Europe servers!?! Never had any problems until this smfh!!!
Obviously they were aware this was going to be the case but yet they still implemented it this way anyway - such a strange decision. Did they think that we wouldn’t notice? Or that we wouldn’t care? Or that if they ignored us long enough we would go away??
So tragic as well as on the very scarce occasion you get an EU server you realise how amazing this game is!
