EU Matchmaking wait times

Anyone playing in EU right now and experiencing ridiculous wait times for games? Even quickplay is taking 5+ mins to find a game. Is the community really that small now?

It could very well be.

Not in EU here- playing from Australia. But yeah, wait times for ranked seem to be within the 2-4 minute window.

Quick play, 3 minutes.

big team seems to be the quickest option but always end up on 200+ ping US servers - join in progress losing team situation.

I don’t understand it honestly. My other game is rogue company and that s*** is barely alive but I get games quicker.

It doesn’t take me 5 mins, but waiting times are definitely getting longer and longer.

Problems are:

  • people are getting bored because of the lack of content
  • the challenge system is basicly the one way to pogress or do have something to do, but is no fun at all. The challenges are not made to be engaging, but only to artificially fill playlists that people don’t like as much. This makes people just not want to go for the challenges since they don’t like doing it and the prize isn’t even worth it. So the only thing people have to do ingame is turning people away from the game…
  • since the challenge system is trying to spread the already diminishing population, now the waiting time for every playlist is getting long for the people that are left playing, instead of having a couple of playlists that are active and have short waiting times. Also it creates more probblems with creating balanced matches, since there are to little players from simular skill available, wich also isn’t liked by players.
  • the SBMM seems to be incapable of correctly grading skills, creating extremely inbalanced games with players not even being able to have a fighting chance and therefore can’t even have fun ingame. This was already a huge problem without the low population counts nowadays, but has now only made worse ofcourse.
  • on pc (i don’t know about xbox) the game is very inefficient, making it requiring higher and higher specs after every update and creating more lag and crashes every time. Many people on pc have just quit playing because the game became unplayable.
  • the amount of desync is turning people away from the game, because games feel inherently unfair or unplayable because of it.

So yeah, the game is just not fun (and fun is why people play games) and way to buggy right now, so more and more people stop playing every week.

Potentially, we are at the 6 month mark almost and nothing new dropped. Games like Fortnite are generating hype and bringing people in. People playing new games like Elden Ring.

I like Infinite when I play it but I also don’t want to play it every day.

If you were playing 3-4am then it’s to be expected. This is exactly what happened with Halo5 within a few months and you’ll notice it get worse and happening earlier if they don’t introduce server selection. In the Halo5 days it was almost as if someone hit a switch at midnight to turn off the EU serves as you’d never find a game on EU servers at all.

I’m in the Asia region, and the last time I played outside of peak NA time I was having to wait over 10 minutes to find games. It’s bad basically everywhere that isn’t NA.

You can’t really claim that until we hear the experiences of US players in a variety of locations to be fair.

Server selection would make wait times even longer. I know you may be suggesting it would bring hoardes of players back to the game, but the reality is it wouldn’t.

The game is quite simply screwed then. RIP Halo Infinite.

That’s true, yeah. My comment is based on the fact that during NA evening times I can usually get a game in 30 seconds to a minute as opposed to 10+ minutes. It starts to drop off again after about 9pm Pacific time. I don’t play enough to really say anything for sure anymore though.

what time are you playing at? Cause past 12am it takes quite a while but any time earlier its normally around 30 seconds

It was taking me about a minute to get into a game on ranked open and you couldn’t get a game on solo/duo controller.
Well, it said it was going to take too long so I didn’t try.
This was about 8pm U.K. time. I played 14 games and had 21ms in every game.

It seems like it was searching based on MMR skill tonight, it took 2-4 minutes to find a game. If you look on team lineup you can see the team MMR at least you could for 2 hours. Then it was removed after 23.30. So maybe 343 was testing skill based matches for team slayer. Maybe we can see a ranked team slayer soon.

That’s interesting. I skipped halo 5 so missed this but it’s like you describe it. Since launch basically it’s like a switch was flipped around midnight and I couldn’t find ranked or btb games and would have to play quickplay instead, but last night I could barely find a quickplay game .

I just moved from the EU back to the USA and it is a night and day difference. The EU has and will always have long wait times, just because of the regions. It’s just the unfortunate truth. Sorry EU peeps :frowning:

I’m glad that someone who has verified this problem for himself says so here.
We Europeans have had this problem forever, especially since Halo 5. Dedicated servers made it worse.
Almost nobody plays in Europe anymore, the list of lag, desync, etc. problems makes even the most solid fans leave Halo.
I was hoping that after thousands of complaints from European players about Halo 5, they would think of us this time.
But no. Halo is an American game for American gamers. It makes me very sad.

That’s not really a thing, no. EU population would be normal if this game would be in a good state. No content for so many months, and so many problems with a game like this tends to keep people away when there’s clearly much better games to be played than…this.
