I just wanted to know the ethnic comosition of the Human Colonies
Okay so when i see the Universe, most of the stories mainly depict American vs Alien style of situation.
The only halo story that has so far show it in any good way is The Mona Lisa where you see people of different ethnic background in one ship.
Whereas if you look in other places you rarely see that. Other than some books where they kind of tend to show it.
The other problem is that whenever they have to make it diverse they usually add a whole bunch of Eastern Europeans or Russians in it to sound like its diverse. When you see rarely any African’s although ODST did show that and Chinese, Middle Eastern and South Americans.
There are dozens of black and Asian Marines in Halo 3 and Reach, Halo: CE through 3 (possibly Reach) have had massive amounts of Mexican Marines, then there’s Sergeant Johnson, Corporal Travis, Emile, and Romeo. Not to mention Satie and her father in Halo 3: ODST. While not physically present, they were characters.
But I see what you mean. Completely devoid of “ethnic diversity”…

> The whole fight was going on in freakin africa, but for some reason, all the soldiers were whiter than sour cream.
South Africa, specifically. And there are plenty of white people there today. That being said, they’re Military. They relocate when needed, and at that time they were massively needed in New Mombasa.
What about the Planet Madrigal which was heavily Hispanic? Or how about in Halo 3: ODST when we are introduced to Dr. Endesha and his daughter Sadie who have thick Kenyan accents. There are also the people they interact with who have deep Kenyan accents. Reach had was fairly Hungarian.
I would personally prefer to see more ethnic diversity in the Spartans. Almost every Spartan soldier I´ve hear or read about seems to be of english descent, which just seems weird. I mean there are about 1.5 billion chinese and 1 billion indians in the world right now. How come I’ve never heard of an indian Spartan?
Asian, not Chinese. It’s difficult to tell their nationality. It’s the same with all the Marines. We have (vaguely) “American,” “European,” “Hispanic,” “Black,” “Asian.” Nothing specific, but covering a spectrum of ethnic backgrounds.
And frankly speaking, not everything needs to be “ethnically correct.” It’s not a statement of racism or promoting superiority in some way. They are there, they are recognized, call it good. If it was focused on making everyone even to the smallest fraction so that no one group is greater than another, then the game could become tedious and preachy. And sometimes, “ethnic diversity” ruins elements. Point in case Heimdall and Hogun in Thor.
> No New Mombasa is Kenya not South Africa and there are rarely any white people there.
I am aware it is in Kenya, was unaware that South Africa is an actual territory. I thought that everything south of the Equator was colloquially “South Africa.”

Emile is undoubtedly black. Jun is not English, though his ethnicity is uncertain. Kat is Israeli. Solomon (though I don’t like his depiction,) is black. Noble Six is white or black, depending on the person playing him/her.

Don’t forget that every second Marine in Halo 2 was Mexican.
Besides, it’s a video game made by Americans, does it really matter?

You also have to take into consideration that people are from other Planets. John-117 for example isn’t exactly American or European because he’s from Eridanus II. He’s not even from Earth.
There are also those who are really mixed because of this. Jorge is pronounced George even though he spells it the Spanish way and he speaks Hungarian. You don’t have to look, act and sound like a specific race to be part of that race.

Yeah, and America’s completely devoid of minorities is it? Where do you live, freakin’ Maine?

actually the fact that the spartans are as ethnically diverse as they are is amazing.
considering they were all raised together from age 6 to age 18+ they should all have similar access (not indian kids with indian parents who have accents raised in north america do not have indian accents in their enlish).
Fyi there was an indian spartan but he got injured in the augmentation process and served as an advisor.
There are a lot more ethinc groups in Halo than you think. Its just the groups you think of are different than they are 500 years in the future. Each planet likely developed its own culture and thus probably formed its own ethic groups. So even though there are a lot of “white people” they all arent the same ethnicity.

What’re you talking about? There’s a Bali Bartan right in front of you! An Indian is portrayed as the number 1 Bartan in Balo the movie!!!

The Caucasian race constitutes the numerical majority of the population of the United States of America. I happen to live in Canada, and my question still stands: Does it really matter? It’s a video game.

But that majority shrinks everyday. By like 2050 or something like that, Caucasians in America will be a minority and Mexican-Americans will dominate.

Source please? And why does it make a difference? I really doubt it was done intentionally.
