I’m a pretty ethical gamer. I’m the XO of a gaming group, that usually runs Mil-Sim games like Arma, Battlefield 4, etc. with a HUGE focus on teamwork, and we work to train our members (of which over half are current/former military) on how to be better at gaming, and working together. So, my credibility is pretty well founded when I say that I do not leave games midmatch… I don’t teamkill… I don’t generally behave like a bad gamer. I hold myself to a much higher standard, and try to present a good example of skill/tactics/strong gaming for other gamers to follow.
Imagine my surprise, if you will, when I see a ban screen pop up, (screen shot: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/633/J6Pw4p.jpg) after leaving a lobby during intermission. It says I’m banned for 69 days. That’s halfway through January.
There were some other things about this game that kinda bugged me (nickel and dime REQ system, extremely short campaign, etc.), but I was having the time of my life playing multiplayer on Halo… as I’ve been a religious Halo fan from way back when I used to have LAN parties with my friends in high school with Halo: CE.
But this is beyond ridiculous. Being banned from multiplayer until mid January, and I am seriously racking my brain trying to understand the justification for the ban… I don’t ever recall quitting a session mid-round… I don’t really make a habit out of running people over, and I’ve been quite successful at avoiding most other players while driving something big and hard to maneuver like a warthog or a scorpion… especially, and in spite of little troll swarms that I’ve already started seeing where a group of four trolls (from my own team) will swarm my vehicle, not try to enter, but just start melee-ing my vehicle, as I’m trying to evade them and attack the enemy.
Again, this is ridiculous. I can EXPLICITLY assure you, I’m not coming back to this game once the ban is over… and I’m probably not going to come back to Halo ever again. You guys have just sold wayyyy out to the nickel and dime system, and it seems to me that the toxic corporate culture from Microsoft is starting to bleed into the corporate culture at 343 industries… from the decisions I’ve seen that have been made on this franchise.
Yet another avid and religious fan lost. I’m very disappointed in my experience with this game… and rest assured, the rest of my gaming group is going to hear about this… and they regularly look to me for fair and balanced reviews of games. You probably have lost a good 50 customers or so in addition.
shakes head Good day.
