Ethical Gamer Just Got a Ban Screen?

I’m a pretty ethical gamer. I’m the XO of a gaming group, that usually runs Mil-Sim games like Arma, Battlefield 4, etc. with a HUGE focus on teamwork, and we work to train our members (of which over half are current/former military) on how to be better at gaming, and working together. So, my credibility is pretty well founded when I say that I do not leave games midmatch… I don’t teamkill… I don’t generally behave like a bad gamer. I hold myself to a much higher standard, and try to present a good example of skill/tactics/strong gaming for other gamers to follow.

Imagine my surprise, if you will, when I see a ban screen pop up, (screen shot: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/633/J6Pw4p.jpg) after leaving a lobby during intermission. It says I’m banned for 69 days. That’s halfway through January.

There were some other things about this game that kinda bugged me (nickel and dime REQ system, extremely short campaign, etc.), but I was having the time of my life playing multiplayer on Halo… as I’ve been a religious Halo fan from way back when I used to have LAN parties with my friends in high school with Halo: CE.

But this is beyond ridiculous. Being banned from multiplayer until mid January, and I am seriously racking my brain trying to understand the justification for the ban… I don’t ever recall quitting a session mid-round… I don’t really make a habit out of running people over, and I’ve been quite successful at avoiding most other players while driving something big and hard to maneuver like a warthog or a scorpion… especially, and in spite of little troll swarms that I’ve already started seeing where a group of four trolls (from my own team) will swarm my vehicle, not try to enter, but just start melee-ing my vehicle, as I’m trying to evade them and attack the enemy.

Again, this is ridiculous. I can EXPLICITLY assure you, I’m not coming back to this game once the ban is over… and I’m probably not going to come back to Halo ever again. You guys have just sold wayyyy out to the nickel and dime system, and it seems to me that the toxic corporate culture from Microsoft is starting to bleed into the corporate culture at 343 industries… from the decisions I’ve seen that have been made on this franchise.

Yet another avid and religious fan lost. I’m very disappointed in my experience with this game… and rest assured, the rest of my gaming group is going to hear about this… and they regularly look to me for fair and balanced reviews of games. You probably have lost a good 50 customers or so in addition.

shakes head Good day.

I purposely didn’t put my gaming group name up there, because I don’t know what the rules are regarding plugs.

I’m sure there’s a build up to the ban. People don’t get banned for simply leaving a lobby during intermission

Hey man, I’ve seen multiple stories like yours comming around… Wish I could help you, really really weird. I had some internet problems 2 days ago which caused 2 or maybe even 3 disconnects (warzone). Fixed by now but still fearing of a ban.

69 days? You realize this could be a fluke right? You have less than an hour registered for the game with so few games played. From the looks of it, you’re pretty average. So I doubt you’ve been reported for being too good.

Yeah I just got a ban message too, doesn’t seem like it did anything though.

Which I perfectly get… and I understand… but like I said, I’m seriously racking my brain trying to understand what I’ve done to warrant such a ban? I try like crazy to make sure that I work with my team, and quite often at the expense of my own safety in game. I can’t imagine how many times I was killed because I wanted to shoot at someone who was shooting at me, because a member of my own team stepped into my sight picture… to then be grenaded or melee’d by the very guy I would have killed.

I just seriously don’t understand how I would be banned… despite there being a buildup. If they have it set so that the normal “wear and tear” accidents of the battlefield is sufficient to warrant a ban, then I have no desire to play such a game.

I have less than an hour registered for the web site. I’m level 18 in the game itself.

If bans are getting dished out like this think I’ll stay away, was going to sit down tonight and have a try a warzone and a few other multiplayer matches.

Either the ban is a mistake in which case It should probably get fixed. Or somehow you made the gods angry.

Maybe that’s it? Random disconnects, or bad session synchs causing whatever automatic decision making matrix they use to falsely register someone as a bad player?

I definitely made the silent cartographer angry… lol.

Yeah, I would recommend you keep your distance for now. At least until they untangle this bologna.

Idk. Seems like there is a bug in bands. I would report this on the Halo Reddit. For 343 Bravo monitors it regularly. Someone got band for suiciding a lot on custom games. And he reported on Reddit and Bravo Responded in less then 2 hours resolving the issue.

So start a new thread there or post on the thread talking about unfair bands and reply to one of Bravo’s post about your situation.

You’ll have a way easier time getting 343I attention on the Reddit then here

WTH are you even looking at to come to that conclusion. Clearly you have no idea how to navagate this site.

He has OVER 9.5 hours on Warzone ALONE…10.5 hours into the campaign…

There obviously must be a mistake. You would first get a few WARNINGS, then a ban, and it woulnd be 69days, or ANY amount of DAYs. It would range from 20 or so minutes up to an hour or two, but not DAYS…

You should call Xbox Live and report this. Then again, you may not be missing much if you simply stayed away. Halo 5 is slowly percolating into a subpar game as far a progress goes…

That’s ridiculous. Report it.

Indeed. 20 percent of this game’s existence so far (21 out of 105 hours as of this moment) has been spent with me playing it.

What the hell is going with this game launch, again?

You don’t have to write any justification, this is just 343i bugs-implementation team strikking again.
