Eternal Flame Idea

We all know that the Eternal flames were given out before for Bungie day and prior for those with mobile phones, and now that Reach Is coming out for free and the custom challenges are being removed there Isn’t really much motivation to reach Inheritor other than a helmet, but lets be honest that’s not a lot considering you need 2 billion credits or so from start to finish, so what If, with the removal of the custom challenges, 343 were to make Eternal unlockable by reaching the rank of Inheritor? There will be new players, and possibly those who have never even heard of Reach, between the 16th and 30th who never got the chance to unlock the flames so It doesn’t exactly seem quite fair to them to know that they will never receive this bonus, be allowed to unlock everything, or be able to have the full experience. I know there will be people who disagree with this idea because they want the exclusitivity, but since they are taking away custom challenges It’s going to be a huge grind to make It to Inheritor which can be a huge discouragement to players, In all actuality It already Is quite a grind, so only those dedicated enough to reach the final rank will own the flames aside from those who unlocked It already. I know 343 probably wont do this but It’s an idea and It only seems fair to the new players. Please post down below on whether you think this idea would be good or bad and elaborate on why.

Not going to happen. The eternal flames was Bungie’s parting gift and if you weren’t here for the celebration, you don’t get the prize.

Seriously, do you show up at Gamestop four years after a game’s midnight launch event and then ask/demand for the exclusive posters/keychains/whatever that was handed out way back when? Is it “unfair” when they say they have none to give you?

343 was Bungie’s gift; 343 has said repeatedly that they will not be reissuing them, no matter what the excuse for missing out on them. They will not be available for purchase either, regardless of what kind of insane rank/credit requirements you might propose; if you missed your chance, then consider them gone.

You could practically say the same about Recon In Halo 3, Bungie made a challenge for people to get It originally everyone thought that was the only way to get Recon after ODST came out, then comes 343 saying they are giving It to everybody all they had to do was play the game at least once and they would receive It by the end of the month, I know they eventually stopped doing that for whatever reason BUT they still gave people another chance to get It and this Is different from walking In to Gamestop, 343 has all the power to give people Eternal because It’s digital there are endless “copies” of Eternal and It’s not Bungie who controls what happens on Halo anymore It’s 343 they make the final decision as to what armor or game feature comes out or gets removed, and It appears they have, the reason for this post was the idea of giving the new people a chance to earn Eternal like they gave people a chance to unlock Recon on Halo 3 and I’m not exactly sure when 343 said they would not reissue Eternal but I am pretty sure they didn’t take into account that there would be free games with gold and the Halo’s would be a part of It, I’m pretty sure that was long before games with gold was announced, so they can still change their minds about this which Is doubtful but still possible.

As has already been said, it was stated by Bungie and 343 both before and after the handover that the Eternal flames would NOT be reissued in any way. Blue flames were not part of the deal, just like the fileshare rendering and the name plates. If you didn’t get the armour effect when Bugnie gave everybody an equal chance to get it (it was available on the iOS app for 2 weeks, then available on the bungie.net website for a further wekk afterwards), then that is not the fault of either developer.

The Eternal flames are gone and they aren’t going to be coming back at all. People need to stop making threads about this, since every thread ends up with the same answers and dies after a week.

@OP Howabout you stop coming up with ideas because adding back eternal flames to the game is basically spitting on bungies face, and the people who cared to obtain the flames from the event or the mobile app. If you wanted the flames so bad why dident you spend 5 seconds playing a match on bungie day in 2011 then you would have gotten them.

This idea Is not for me I already have the Eternal flames the whole reason for this post Is to give NEW players a chance to unlock them for whatever reason they have for not getting them In the first place Is, whether It not owning the game due to lack of money or whatever, spitting In Bungies face? I hardly think giving someone an armor effect In a game the company doesn’t own or probably even cares about Is spitting In their face, Bungie never wanted to make Reach they wanted It to end with 3 but had to drag It out because of their 10 year contract and now are working on Destiny the Halo series probably doesn’t even come to mind anymore with them so I doubt they care about It and I sincerely doubt 343 cares either since their name Isn’t on the boot up screen as stated before this Is an idea to give the new members a fair chance to receive the effect and as I said In the original post not many more people would receive It only the most dedicated would receive It because they have to reach the LAST level, do you know how long It would take someone, a new player who has never played Reach before, to reach the last rank from the start? It’s not like they are giving It to everyone like Recon, how come I didn’t see anyone complaining when 343 said they were just going to give Recon to everyone without them needing to work for It? Wouldn’t that have been spitting In Bungie’s face since they worked so hard on setting up the challenges for dedicated players? And did they care? No

Earning recon on halo 3 and giving it to everyone isn’t spitting on bungies face, it’s spitting on the people’s faces who earned it. Blue flames were a gift to everyone who participated in their parting for the few weeks, how hard is it to grasp that? Do you show up to someone’s birthday party 3 years later asking for more cake? Nope.

Do you ask someone for a free inheritor rank? Nope.

Should 343i give blue flames to everyone who didn’t achieve the actual requirement? nope.

I hope this made the answer clearer for you OP, it just won’t happen sorry
