hey there!
i’m new to HALO and by new i mean COMPLETELY new, never played a HALO title before. i have a question, i was in a match earlier today, and while i wasn’t doing particularly good, i at least wasn’t feeding kills to the opposing team
towards the end of the match (we had over 40kills) i received a message "Et tu, Brute?’ and been immediately kicked back to main menu, …for BETRAYAL (??)
…last thing i remember was i thrown a grenade on the enemy, but as i saw it fly one of my teammates killed said enemy and the grenade damaged him (…possibly killed? haven’t even had the time to check the kill feed)
i wasn’t intentionally killing my teammates (as that’s what BETRAYAL means), neither i couldn’t do anything to prevent my teammate from stepping on my grenade
can someone please explain to me what on earth had just happen so that i can avoid this in the future?
You killed your teammate which resulted in you being booted.
It doesn’t typically happen after a single betrayal so you must have done it a couple times.

…can i kill a teammate MULTIPLE times w/o even noticing?
…CAN this happen (technically) after the first time i accidentally kill a teammate?
…do i receive some kind of warning, or is this just a straight ‘boot’?
…did i get kicked automatically, or did my teammates kick me?
thank you, i know it’s a bunch of questions, but like i’ve said, i am completely new to HALO, and would really appreciate if you could answer.

-probably
-sure, why not?
from what I experienced so far in around 1000 games is that the first time you betray someone they never get the message to kick you. the second time you kill a teammate he will always get the message to kick you.

thank you, i must have killed him more than once then,
…i mean, of course it bothers me, as, why in the world would i want to kill my own teammate?
my fault entirely tho, as if i killed him more than once and haven’t even noticed, it was a ‘kick’ well-deserved on my end
thanks for breaking this down for me!
Splinter grenades have a knack of getting underserved betrayals as teammates unwittingly walk into them long after they were thrown. This has happened to me, some players will even do it deliberately to kick you if you took the power weapon they wanted or offended their obviously refined sensibilities in some way. Not sure how this can be addressed without changing the grenade’s function.

…yeah, well, i obviously killed him enough times for him to get the option to kick me, so yeah, i guess that’s that
i was just surprised to see it was a BETRAYAL like i did it deliberately and purposefully
nonetheless, how pissed he must have been to kick me and rather play 3v4 than to leave me in the game?
Ive been kicked after the first one. The banning is messed up. Theat said if I get the message to kick someone I wont unless it was clearly intentional to steal a power weapon ect. Some people are -Yoinks!- and kick every time they can.
