Which do you prefer for the next Halo(s)?
The Esports Tier system would be much better if it was properly done.
At the moment you have people ranking Platinum/Diamond when they probably should be ranking Bronze/Silver/Gold, so the whole system is skewed out of any kind of relevance. It is pretty much like playing social matchmaking in H:Reach at the moment.
Hopefully in the next seasons they will adjust the placements, so more people are ranked where they should be after their placement games. Remember, because you can’t rank down a division it would be better to be ranked conservatively rather than being put in a division too high for your skill level.
I feel like the current ranking system in Halo 5 is actually really cool. It does make me want to improve but I feel like I’ve entered a tier where it’s really hit or miss whether or not I’m going to succeed. There seem to be a lot of good players/teams in the low Platinum ranks. Sometimes I get completely rolled when playing solo and even with a friend or two. What I do notice though is that the teams seem to comprise of 1 great player, 2 average players and 1 poor player. I don’t see why the players shouldn’t be more even across both teams in a system like this.

Yep or they should just change it so you can go down. Maybe they could lock people in Onyx but below that and you can drop, also perhaps the highest people can be placed after 10 games is Diamond then you work up I think this would be much better.
Definitely 1-50. More satisfying and more fun grind.
If the tier system was done more like CSGOs then it would be a lot better imo
No way I should be in Diamond for SWAT or Platinum for Slayer, but I know getting to 40 in Halo 3 was beyond me, so it felt like I hit a natural ceiling. Here I feel like I’m just playing dice with random teammates until I hit a lucky streak to get me over the line for the next tier.
I think you need to be able to drop down tiers. There’s too many people in Onyx that probably shouldn’t be there.

This is the problem though, ranking shouldn’t be something you grind for fun, it should be a general representation of your skill level so that you can be matched fairly against others of similar skill. While the current placement system needs tweaking, to properly place players, at least it doesn’t encourage people to utilize the ranking system as if it was a progression system.
