Escharum: “This is my last fight.”

Anybody else catch Escharum saying “this is my last fight”? Didn’t sound like a guy that thought he was going to lose to Chief, so are the Banished planning on lighting the ring after Chief’s defeat at the hands of Escharum? Just was an interesting choice of words from a guy sure of his victory, sounds like he knows death is coming soon no matter what…

Probably just an old brute.

He knows he’s old and only has one good fight left in him, he wants to go out with a bang…we know Chief has experience in that.

I was more surprised that the trailer basically confirmed that we’re now fighting the space version of Captain Barbosa - go back and listen to it again and tell me you don’t hear it lol.

“LIGHT A FIIIIIRE IN YER HEART, SPART’NNNN!”

Escharum’s mentality in relation to this speech recalls how Thanos imagines the world after his action

You aren’t wrong actually. Most of Atriox’s chosen are veterans of the Human/Covenant War.

I think “this is my last fight” is the Banished’s version of the “I’m only 1 week away from retirement” trope.

Really doesnt bode well well for him but…villains in Halo games certainly don’t have great track records.

Edit: maybe it’s the Brutes’ way to call “last match” when they’re getting sleepy during a play session?

Could tie into whatever they’re doing on the ring, maybe purposefully unleashing the flood.

Chief mentions it they don’t stop the banished there won’t be a home to go back to. I bet the banished plan to fix the ring, flight it to earth and light it up.

I don’t know, I am hoping there is more build up to this character in the game’s story though.

Sounds like he was being a narcissistic drama queen. Why should we care if it is his last fight, or how can anyone confirm it is his last fight (at the time of the speech)? Is there some quota that says “Once you have been in 100 battles, you are forced into retirement”, or is he a few weeks from hitting retirement age in Atriox’s army?

If so then the Halo rings will become the new Death Star. Too lazy to tell a new and unique story? Just bring back the Death Star / Halo Ring and threaten to blow up the galaxy… again!"

Except for Atriox. At the moment he is still in one piece.

Well the idea presented in Halo Wars 2 was that Atriox planned on making halo’s to make a big gun to the head of the universe in his path for conquest.

In that case, it gives a little more weight to the phrase “We are his legacy.” Escharum is doing what Atriox couldn’t, to honour his missing (likely presumed dead) leader.

Reminds me of how H4 left Jul Mdama, hopefully Atriox gets better treatment in his second outing.

Also, please don’t post consecutively. You can multi-quote or edit. If you have questions about that shoot me a pm and I’ll reply when I can. I don’t want to derail the thread.

Naaaaaaaah, he probably just have some kind of alien diabete or something

They may think he’s dead only because he and his section of the banished are trapped on the Ark but I feel his story may conclude another time.

To be fair the community’s been asking to be on a halo ring again for years…and thats what halos are for.

I did find it humorous however, as while the SW community is groaning about deathstars, the halo community was begging for their super weapons back.

I imagine he’s a grizzled old veteran that has fought in countless battles beforehand. He’s probably a legend among the Banished, he could very well be their own equivalent of the Master Chief. He knows that this battle against Master Chief will be his hardest one yet and it’s only going to end in two ways; a glorious victory or an honorable death. Should the former occur then he can finally retire as having being the only being in the universe to end the legend of 117.

He’s saying Chief is the final challenge. If he beats Chief, who is going to stop him then?
