Update 7/28/2013
ALCON:
I was able to resolve the sign in issue by:
1.) Creating a local Win8 account
2.) From the local account, signing into the Windows Store with my Microsoft account
3.) Downloading the app to my local account
Starting the HSA app then does not attempt auto-login. It prompts for your Microsoft account to sign in. After sign in the main menu appears and the game can be played! You can see your XBL Gamertag in the upper right corner letting you know your logged in and connected.
After logging out of the local account, and logging into Win8 with my Microsoft account, I launched the app and auto-login was successful. The game can now be played from either account.
So the issue seems to be with the auto-login that the app attempts at first startup.
Original issue described below.
GT: ZonaryHen9741
PF: Windows 8(64-bit)
RG: USA
Attempting to run HSA on MS Surface Pro 128GB.
Download successful. App loads fine and music starts playing. After developer credits the screen shows “Connecting…” briefly, then a dialog box pops up with the following error message:
“Sorry we can’t sign you in. Try signing in at Xbox.com, then start the app again”
Two option boxes are available:
“Continue” and “Abort”
Clicking “Continue” launches an IE browser window directly to Xbox.com. Signing in at Xbox.com and starting the app again does not work.
Clicking “Abort” brings up the sign in dialog box. Clicking “Sign In” displays the original error message over again.
After a few iterations, there is still no way forward, so the only thing to do is close the app.
I do not have the multiple account/alias issue that some others have run into. I use my Microsoft account to log in to Win8 , and that same account is linked to the Windows App Store, Xbox Live, and Halo Waypoint. The Xbox SmartGlass App works perfectly to interface with my Xbox, and that app requires signing in on the same linked (Xbox Live to Microsoft) account.
I don’t think the issue is with my system. To check, I tried a few basic things. I synched app licenses, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, disabled anti-virus/firewall software (even though it was not blocking any connections), and also cleaned the Registry and IE Browsing History. I’m not sure how to proceed at this point, but I really want to play the game. It looks awesome!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
