I have recently come back to Halo 5 after not playing for about half a year and so far whenever I press the start button I am greeted with the error message “Error authorizing user with Halo 5 services. You will be unable to access online modes”. I then click OK and choose an option from the multiplayer menu (I.e. warzone, social ranked etc.) and another error message appears stating " unable to connect to the Halo 5 Guardians lobby service".
I have researched this problem and tried many suggestions on how to fix it: I have restarted my Xbox and my router many, many times, turned off WiFi content block (I am with Vodafone), I have allowed the Halo Waypoint website in content control settings, signed into my Xbox live account only when reaching the home screen of Halo 5 and I have reconnected to a wireless and wired connection multiple times. Any new suggestions as to how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Have you cleared your console’s cache?
Is your NAT set to open?
Try restarting your internet router.

Yes I have; there have been times where I’ve had that error and restarting my router managed to clear the issue. Though to be fair, it might’ve just been something unique on my end.

If you read the post, why did you offer advice that OP has already tried?

From experience, restarting the router will usually flush out some of the more stubborn issues when it comes to user profile syncing (though this may take multiple attempts I’ll admit). But since this method isn’t working, contacting Xbox Support would be the best option at this point.

I get that restarting the router is a good first step to take when troubleshooting. What I’m asking is why you posted that when OP already said they did that step multiple times, if you in fact read the post?

When I saw that the OP was having that particular issue, restarting the router came up in my mind as a suggestion. And I admit that I was a bit shortsighted on this issue, so let’s end it there and not let this drag on for too long.

My advice to you is that when you are trying to provide advice, make sure you fully understand what the issue is before typing up an answer. Even when you think you may have seen this same issue 100 times before, you should never assume it’s the same, and you should always carefully read the entire post. When you’re seeking help on an issue, it’s pretty annoying to get a suggestion for something you said you’ve done already.

Yes it is, so I really don’t know where to go from there. The issue is still persisting.

Again, have you tried clearing your console’s cache? How about uninstalling and reinstalling Halo 5? Have you tried removing your profile from the console then putting it back on?
Mine was a setting on my actual broadband account some kind of firewall in my case with nowtv it was called broadband buddy I had to disable it to get it to work I suspect you all have similar problems
