I could really use some help, i bought an xbox one elite console over the weekend and after spending two/three days downloading the 80gb files for the game and downloads. The game wont even let me play online.
My internet is better than my brothers at 3Mb/s, his is 1.5Mb/s, yet he plays online with no trouble.
When ever i load up the game it comes up with the error message saying"Error authorizing user with halo 5: Guardians services. You will be unable to access online modes."
I have tryed all the clearing cache, hard reset, signing out and back in, reset internet multiple times.
Have you tried port forwarding? Are you on a wired connection? This is an interesting problem in that most profile sync errors are fixed with a hard reset, but yours has not been. Do you and your brother play on separate consoles via the same internet connection? I’ve heard that multiple consoles on a single router can cause problems.
I would also like to mention i redeemed the digital content that came with my limited edition and hope i havent lost the content

My brother lives with his mum and i dont so two different networks, wireless networks, i have a room mate on xbox one too though but they dont have halo
I would try using a wired connection and set up port forwarding. You might also considered using a static IP, change you DNS, and other troubleshooting methods. I’m just spitballing here; dunno if any of that will work for sure, but it’s a starting point.
Edit: just wondering, have you tried playing when your roommate is not on his own Xbox?
You must be wired… Also make sure you don’t have your profile loaded on your buddies Xbox One… There are several things that can cause issues with this game. Make sure your Nat is set to Open. Also when you do a hard reset start make sure you unplug your xbox after and wait a few minutes and plug it all back in… If you didn’t do that last time do another hard reset start and then unplug it for a few minutes. Another problem could be that you have a corrupted file while downloading the game caused by using your wireless to download the game… There are many variables. Worst case is you will have to call xbox support and see if they can walk you through a few things. But if you call them be prepared for a lengthy phone call… Good luck!

Having the same problem as OP, except in an entirely different scenario.
- only console in the house
- netgear nighthawk x4 router (5ghz network with 75up/700down speeds)
*first 145 levels in halo 5 played on wireless without trouble at all, since release.
wired or no makes no difference.
I have tried a hard reset
Logging in with different accounts
Cleared the cache
repeat.
And according to the xbox live status page there are no issues with halo
Had this problem today, but it works again now after restarting the system using the “restart system” functionality from Xbox quick menu. Nothing else seeed to help for me
Please don’t revive old topics, thanks, especially ones that are over 2 years old
There is a pinned thread that can used to log issues with servers, it is also recommended to check for Xbox Live outages
