"Error Authorizing User With Halo 5 Services"

Hey guys, been awhile since I’ve posted here. But over the weekend I’ve been having some major issues playing Halo 5, to the point of where I can’t even get on it. Since the Cartographer update, I am constantly getting errors when simply trying to log-on to Halo 5. The most common is "Attention: Error authorizing user with Halo 5: Guardians services. You will be unable to access online modes". When this happens, it logs me in as a level 1 with a default Spartan helmet emblem. Sometimes I get past that, and end up with a “We couldn’t get your latest saved data”, in which case I can only choose to “Go Offline”.

I can tell it’s going to mess up when I first launch H5 and the “Message of the day” takes a long time to load, and eventually loads with no pictures. On Friday night, I spent 2 hours trying to simply play the game and kept running into TONS of issues that all seemed related to my Halo 5 profile not syncing properly with the Halo 5 servers. I hard reset probably 10x, I’ve reset my modem multiple times, quit the build, pulled the power brick, did all XBL tests (checked out fine), cleared MAC address, and it’s still happens. Occasionally it will work fine, and I’ll play a few games, but then I can tell it’s about to mess up again because I will get “Retrieving data” after ever single game, and I’m unable to even see my KDA in the 1st box. Also, when I click on the scoreboard, it is just blank and doesn’t load anyone’s Kills/Deaths/Assists. Usually after a few games of this, I will eventually get an “Attention: There was an issue with the Halo 5 Guardians servers. Please Try Again” error, and will be unable to find a game. When this happens I have to quit the build, in which case I typically end up with the original error, and am S.O.L.

FWIW all other games work fine, and I do not have TWC. Before the update I would occasionally get the “Retrieving data” after games, but maybe once every 20 games. Is anyone else having this issue? Were there major server problems over the weekend? Incredibly frustrating when I get a few hours to game on the weekend and am stuck trouble shooting. I was able to play for several hours yesterday, but I did run into the issues above and had to hard reset/QTB several times.

Any help is appreciated, or if this is a known issue it needs to be fixed ASAP, or I’m just gonna be stuck having to play other games… =/

It could be that Xbox is being DDOS’d again but other than that I have no clue, sorry.

If that were the case I would think all of my games would be messing up though… =/

I am having the exact same problem. Haven’t been able to play since last week. I have all the same problems your are mentioning. I am more concerned by the fact this isn’t being addressed by 343

I tried tweeting Quinn/Josh/Bravo all weekend with screenshots, and got no reply. It’s incredibly frustrating.

I have the somewhat same problem for forge, it does not let me get on it for some reason.

I´m hvaing the same issue so, what now? just wait? or is it any way to fix it?

Most games you’ve probably played doesn’t have dedicated servers like Halo 5 does.

  1. I’m in southern Indiana…Midwest–USA
  2. It is an ARRIS modem/router combo, will have to get the version/firmware when I get home
  3. ISP is WOWWAY! Speed is 35mb down, 5mb upload

Also, I spent 45 minutes on the phone with my ISP last night looking into my router settings. They did not find anything blocking “Mature” or “Gaming” content (which is sort of what it feels like, with stats not loading, inability to reach H5 servers, etc.). They also have not made any recent changes, nor have I. They did however move my XB1 IP address outside of the firewall, and after that I played about 10 games without issue. (This could’ve been coincidence, as even when I’m experiencing this problem I can occasionally get on for a handful of games.) I am going to test more tonight.

I have gotten the same errors that OP has. After a few days I discovered what the problem was. Turns out my Xbox needed an update, but I never got a message about it. Try going into settings and manually updating your Xbox from there. That’s what fixed it for me.

I am gamertag BiggestDogg. I have been having the same issue since yesterday 12/23/2015 - ‘cannot sync with halo 5 guardian servers’ etc. I have been running perfectly fine until this happened.
I have no updates available for my Xbox one.
I was playing fine until I changed my helmut, my armor, and my visor color from Big Team Arena around 4-5PM PST. I went to War Zone and upon arriving there my req packs were unavailable. Two or three games of that and returning to Big Team Arena I get the unable to sync error constantly every time. All other players in the lobby reported similar issues all afternoon long. When I logged on later last night my online buddy in Chicago was fine but my halo 5 info was still not syncing. I can play (after 2-3 attempts at reaching a game server) but I have a level 1 helmut and no req info available ‘req servers unavailable’ YET SOMETIMES not always can see req info from Spartan Hub in Arena lobby.

Not so fast: after one match I am broke again - back to the original error - manifesting this time with gamer tag info ok (no first level helmut) and my rank level shows up but no req points info.

Has anybody tried to do a game Uninstall / reinstall for this particular issue?

I would think Microsoft / xBox One would be working directly with 343 to fix this, as this directly affects xBox One reputation/sales, Halo being exclusive to xBox. I will report it there as well :slight_smile:
