So lately i’ve been thinking, and I quite liked the equipment in Halo 3. I didn’t play a heck of a lot of halo 3 online (I think i’ve only played a couple of hundred games). This is partly because I didn’t get live until modern warfare 2 came out, and partly because my friends sucked me into the Mw2 craze. But it seemed fairly balanced compared to the AA’s in reach. Still though, i’m not sure if they should be implemented into the new games, i’m kind of on the fence. I like them, but I also don’t.
I also think that the TU and the non-AA and non-bloom playlists coming with CEA can breathe new life into reach, maybe make its multiplayer as good as halo 2s (I’ve never played halo 2 but apparently its multiplayer was the best). A little ambitious, but certainly possible. I think there could be a compromise though. Maybe make the AA’s recharge time longer, to make it slightly more like equipment. If the timer was say 30 seconds-1 minute AA’s would seem like less of a crutch.
What are your opinions? I’m a little on the fence with these ideas myself, and quite frankly, i’m not sure what I want.
Actually, I have been thinking about that as well. I much prefer the fact that it’s on the map rather than in your loadouts. It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, and I just can’t help but feel as though AAs are a downgrade from equipment.
I honestly hope that 343 includes both equipment and armor abilities in Halo 4 in custom gametypes (because I love me some custom game options). I also wish that they would scrap AAs in the main part of matchmaking in favor of equipment.
I don’t think I would really like AA’s spawning on the map unless we were able to turn them into a one time use type thing like equipment was. I think if that were to happen then they would be much better.
AA’s are awesome. But should never have been in matchmaking. Same with equipment. I hope in Halo 4 we get to keep these controversial features for the sake of custom games.
