Equipment Ideas

If you could design a piece of equipment for HI, even just a concept idea or simple spitballing/brainstorming, what would it be? how would it work? i’ll go first:

Thrust Jets: installs several small thrust jets along the armor, using nanite tech to guide the jets to where they need to go on the armor. upon activation, it allows the wearer to move quickly and suddenly in the direction they are currently traveling towards.

it’s essentially just enhanced movement, and i think that enhanced movement like this should absolutely be equipment someone can pick up on the battlefield. we already have grappling hooks, why not also do these?

Teleporter - Use this to teleport to whatever part of the map you choose to get to power weapons, etc

Radar maximizer - Attach this to see people on your radar on all parts of the map

Bot spawner - Use this to spawn NPCs that attack all players on the map including yourself, teammates. Killing these have no rewards, just a distraction
OR
Flood nest - Throw this baby to unleash a nest of Flood NPCs that attack everyone on the map

Visor Blinder - Throw this down to blind anyone within range. Giving you room to escape a battle in time of need.
Keep in mind this can also blind yourself.

Hunter Cannon - Use this to give everyone on the map 5-10 seconds with a hunter cannon

The Size Enhancer - Use this on enemies and yourself to make yourself and teammates large/small and make other players the opposite. Players who are large move slower but have more shield. Players who are small move fast but have less shield.

idk what I’m thinking of. Just stuff off the top of my head lol.

doppelgänger - activates a secondary identical Spartan for a limited time that replicates your movement and actions. If it gets hit with two shots it disappears. Does not deal any damage. Maybe have a setting where you pick which direction it would spawn from your Spartan.

Portal generator

Smoke grenade that creates electric interference

A deployable cover that links to smart scope and moves forward as you do but is shaped to act as a ramp to send vehicles into the air.

A grav node that lets you curve shots and grenades around corners or send vehicles into a wall.

I would like to put something like a smoke granade or a glove that Made an explosion in the floor ir you hit It.

I think we could revamp/revive old equipment from previous games. I think it would be cool to see the auto-turret from Halo 3 and 4 make a return, and actually be done well. The autoturret was seen once in 3 and was terrible, and it was better in 4, but still not amazing

Kinetic Disruptor: arm mounted device that when activated blasts a kinetic wave in front of the player. Deals 0 damage by itself but can knock people back or be used as a self propulsion tool if aimed at the ground to reach higher ground or score ridiculous glory shots.

Can throw back small vehicles and medium sized vehicles to an extent but has no effect on heavy vehicles such as tanks.

Can deflect rocket and grenade projectiles if timed right.

Pros: excellent mobility and crowd control. Nullifies grenade/rocket threats

Cons: reliant on timing, deals 0 damage and ineffective against heavy vehicles. It also doesnt have the versatility of the grappling hook. Cant protect from more powerful ordinance such as Banshee bombs and tank shells.

As a tool this would excell at environmental kills, forge parkour, unique gamemodes and self defense.

Thoughts?

Edit: I just now realised this is similar to the actual equipment that can reflect damage, maybe just the knockback effect then? Either way it would serve a purpose I think.

something like the shield wall, except instead of blocking bullets it has EMP effects on anything that passes through it and specifically destroys plasma. You could put this one a chokepoint to stop vehicles and players from passing through (unless they want their wheels to stall and their shields to pop), but would similarly stop your own teammates from doing the same. Also it should break when a vehicle touches it, so it can’t lock a vehicle in place through repeat EMP.

I don’t even ask myself if I could create my own equipment because I totally trust 343’s work and I hope to have nice surprises in infinite.

I think a deployable man cannon would be cool. It could be like the gravity lift, except you can move quickly across the map horizontally.

Unfortunately nanotech is scrap. That tidbit about Gen 3 armor confirms it.

i mean yeah it might be scrap for NOW, but tech improves over time friend. you’re saying nobody would take another crack at it? i would tend to disagree.

Yeah, I kinda do, with the Created\Banished going on, Chief suit in 4 being traded in for Gen 2, and general fighting for the scraps of the scraps atmosphere I don’t expect that to come back anytime soon.

Hover Jets - Allows you to hover when used in midair, or can be used while grounded to hover above the ground. Hovering grants enhanced strafing speed and lasts for 3 seconds per charge, and has a total of 3 charges before the equipment expires.

When used on the ground, you will float slightly above the ground using Hover Jets, behaving like a Covenant Ghost vehicle. This boosts your overall movement and strafe speed. When used in the air, this will behave like Halo 5’s Hover except that you can move side to side with greater speed than normal walking speed, allowing you to traverse gaps or strafe in the air to dodge bullets.

Essentially this combines Speed Boost and Hover together and grants an additional way to traverse the map similar to how Grapple Shot or Repulsor do. This Hover Jet doesn’t grant any additional verticality like Jet Pack, only boosting the distances that a Spartan can cover.

that is a completely fair statement, but i just like speculating about stuff ya know?

Ammo Resupply - An ammo pack that can be used multiple times to supply some ammunition to every Kinetic ammo type, including rockets. Can be used by teammates and enemies if not destroyed or used up.

Vehicle repair drone - Deploy a drone that repairs any vehicle back to 100% durability, fixes blown out tires or any missing parts. Can be shot out and destroyed Mid repair cycle.

Singularity Bomb - A thrown device that distorts gravity pulling anything in its vicinity close to it and enables zero G. Effects everyone and everything. Players, vehicles, items and physics enabled objects in the world. Once the effect is over it explodes throwing everything still in its effect away.

Fire Sprinkler - An area denial device that when thrown, shoots napalm from the centre and douses the area in flame. takes time to cover an area as it shoots the napalm one by one.

Regen Field - The classic ability from Halo 3 that allows you to regen shields much faster while you’re in the vicinity of its effect.

Speed Boost - Activate a pick up that increases movement speed for a limited amount of time like in Halo 2.

To be honest, given that 343 has stated they plan on adding more equipment later on through updates, I am kind of hoping they can bring back Halo 3’s equipment.

Actually now that I think about it, I recall in the Overview, can’t remember what part it is, but we see someone use the shock grenade equipment on the flag carrier and the player standing in front of the Flag carrier used the Repulsor to block the shock effect from the shock grenade. That if I recall is the first time you could actually use another piece of equipment to counter another piece. If we don’t already I would love to see more equipment that can act as counters to the others, make one that could mask you from the sonar equipment, or one that could prevent you from being grappled onto by the Grapple shot. Heck maybe even something that could save you from a overshield user.

that’s another idea i really love: Single Use Equipment. hopefully they bring that in to HI at some point, that would be a lot of fun :slight_smile:

Cluster shot: a cannon attached to your forearm that shoots a flurry of cluster nades. It would be perfect for forcing people out of cover
