Had a thought inspired by the thread about one book to make a game.
I wonder what the feasibility of making Episodic games that are based on some of the books would be. Not necessarily full games, but important/action/epic parts of the books. Like when Red Alpha team takes out the cruiser on Reach just after surviving an epic landing. Or Blue Teams infiltration and destruction of Unyielding Hierophant. Could include non Spartan stories like Midnight in the heart of midlothian, because SGT Baird is one BA dude. Maybe even some of Johnsons exploits in Contact Harvest.
Any thoughts, or other ideas for “episodes”?
EDIT- Also, realistically, I wouldn’t expect 343i to do all this for free. I could see a pack of say 3 episodes for a few dollars. So what would you all be willing to shell out for episodic content like this?
343 Industries have already attempted this via Halo: Infinity and Spartan Ops, the revenue and attention was mostly negative, however, with some tweaks and well grounded support the episodic campaign could come to fruition and be a formidable asset. As standalone game it could possibly work as a side-project.
I think it would work best with MCC or a simolar separate title. As the usable equipment would be different for certain episodes, I don’t think it would be hugely feasible to drop into H5.
As for how it would be recieved, I think it would do alright given proper attention to the story in each one, since it wouldn’t be a chronological series, more a scenario based thing…which would fit right into the whole War Games thing…so maybe a H5 insertion wouldn’t be too out there as long as they keep the equipment and vehicles accurate to the story.
