This week in #HunttheTruth…
Benjamin Giraud recounts his memories of the Battle of Earth and the Master Chief in 2552, and seeks to interview past residents of Eridanus II to discover the true origins of the Master Chief.
During the investigation into the origins of the Master Chief, Benjamin sought information about John’s upbringing and Eridanus II; however, due to planet being glassed back in 2530, the sources were all but scattered. To locate some data for the article, the Office of Naval Intelligence furnished Ben with a list of some viable sources, who claimed to have known John, yet, wanting to go the extra mile with the story, he decided to also use his vast colonial connections, to which, discovered a single person, Ellie Bloom, a childhood friend of John’s.
As the interviews start to progress, Benjamin Giraud learns a great deal about John… from his primary school teacher, his neighborhood friend and also a survivor of the Insurrection… yet some interesting statements are told, by some sources which do not line up with others…
Current Opinion/Overall Theme of #HunttheTruth
In this episode, it seems that the connections between interviews create broken canon with the information we already know about John… this however shows who is telling the truth. This leads me to believe ‘survivors’ from the ONI listings are false, or rather ONI trained operatives hiding the truth about the Spartan-II Program and the kidnapping of 6 year children.
- Dion Governor specifically states that John was in grade 6 and participated in a extra-curriculum boxing circuit at age 12; John was abducted from Eridanus II at age 6… for the Spartan-II Program, this guy is most definitely a misdirect interview.- Ellie Bloom reminiscences over John and herself, playing an obstacle course game… and also staring up at the stars. (Halo 3 - Starry Night) She seems to be telling the truth.- Thomas Wu talks about the Insurrection, how he was captive in a camp and then somehow the Insurrection on Eridanus was quelled… my guess it was the Spartan-IIs.
Dion Governor, John’s primary school teacher, says something about John boxing older kids when he was 13, but wasn’t he kidnapped and indoctrinated into the Spartan program at 6? Or does the public not know that yet?
Definitely expands on what we have.

the public didn’t know about it, it was talking about his clone. At the end the document the interviewer gets shows John had officially “died” at 6.
Doesn’t his flash clone account for this? He was abducted at age 6.

But it was his clone that would’ve died at 6. So why are they talking about John at age 13? Unless these contacts are all actually actors who were employed by ONI to give a fake backstory to John’s childhood to cover up the Spartan program.
It wasn’t stated when John’s clone died. They meant his clone. That episode though… yikes… really…

No. You need only look at Homecoming to know that flash clones could live for years. They would die eventually, but they could live for years. So it was entirely possible that it was John’s clone. Like Dion said, John missed his first practice(abducted) and his last practice(clone died). And now Benjamin has found a document that lists John as dead at age 6. The cover-up.
Also, the girl who supposedly knows him? Yeah, she’s not nearly 40, I’m hoping this stuff is supposed to just be cover ups and not just really bad continuity errors.
edit: Nvm
No, think about it. The John that the teacher was talking about, the John that was in boxing and other extra curricular activities, was the clone that Halsey left when they abducted him for SPARTAN training. In the end, he said the city records labeled him deceased at the age of 6. That was when he was abducted. That does seem odd that with his clone roaming around he was labeled dead tho.

John’s flash clone never died like it was supposed to. It grew up. Where is it now?
John is basically the genetically perfect human being… What if he wasn’t the only one?
Chiron TL-34 comes to mind.
Current running theory: There are two Master Chiefs running around. It just seems obvious. This episode of Hunt the Truth clearly illustrates the flash clone John demonstrating the same natural abilities and leadership and even luck as the original John-117. What if he got lucky and survived until 2558? I noticed the Master Chief’s voice in the trailer sounds different than the John-117 we know. It sounds more grizzled, more robotic even. It even sounds almost fanatical.
So let’s take this parallel between John-117 and Shadow of Sundered Star (the Ur-Didact). A running fan theory is that John-117 has been implanted by the Librarian with Ur-Didact’s genesong, similar to Bornstellar Makes Eternal Lasting’s brevet mutation into the IsoDidact in Halo: Cryptum. In this regard, many people think of the Master Chief as some spin-off incarnation of IsoDidact, but what if he’s more like the original Ur-Didact? What if he is doomed to become a little bit jaded and corrupt and tilt ever so slightly to the evil and dramatic side, like the original Ur-Didact did? And what if, again like the Didact, this clone of John somehow goes on to become a Spartan, don the same armor, etc? For one thing, it would be something ONI would be sure to cover up from the general public. It could lead to some very conflicting accounts about the actions and intentions of John-117. Is he our hero or our traitor? What if he is both? What if there are two and one is ruthlessly fighting, even against the UNSC, for personal reasons, while the other is running around and saving the galaxy as per usual?
It might get all weird science fiction if this theory, which I admit is pretty out there, comes to pass. But I just noticed this cool little additional connection between the characters of the Master Chief and the Didacts. If John’s clone survived, it’s out there somewhere. Why mention it as being just as triumphant as John-117 if it’s not going to be brought back up? Maybe it will be restricted to Hunt the Truth for simplicity’s sake, but this is a really intriguing direction this is going in.
Dion is clearly lying, remember that in Episode 0 the investigator mentioned that he wanted this to be a clear cut origin and documentary of the hero of the universe. He also said that while investigating he realized it wasn’t simple like that, with his story turning into a conspiracy. Dion is placed by ONI to give false info, to probably tell the investigator what he wants to hear.
The investigator even said that Dions account depicted exactly what he remembered Chief to be. This is obviously too good to be true.
There are those who said Hunt The Truth would be boring. What have they to say now?
