We know that Halo Infinite is going to take place a few months or so after the events of Halo 5.
Would you want a really cool, well done cinematic prologue to explain what has happened?
Or,
Would you want a game-play style prologue like ‘6 months earlier’ style?
Personally, I would be happy with the cinematic. What do you guys think?
A well done cinematic cutscene, followed by a game-play style prologue level.

I really liked Gears of War 4s intro with the Pendulum Wars where you play and it had cutscenes during that and the speech that was being given.
Not a huge fan of games starting off by showing the past, either by cutscene or gameplay. I prefer stories to start in the present. So if Infinite needs to fill us in on prior events that would be important to the story, do it organically within the present story. Most of the time this devolves into uninspired exposition, but it can be done in more compelling, creative ways.
Definitely do a mission for it.

Agreed
Do what they did with the first three: throw the players straight in and let them infer what happened through subtle dialogue hints. I’m not a fan of wasting significant portions of the story on auxiliary details unless it benefits the pacing.
Neither. I want to be thrown straight into the action as I was in Halo 1, Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Just saw your comment. I guess great minds think alike.
ODST drop into that bad boy.
I personally think it should be a gameplay level. From what we found out in the infinite trailer people are saying that the game will take place in 2560 so a level that sorts fills in some of the gaps in between the time period would be good. It could also maybe explain how Chief gets his new classic looker armor.
Both sound fantastic, to be honest. I would not mind whatever they choose.
Cutscene I think.
A while ago, Frank O’Connor said;
“It will take place after the events of Halo 5 but feel new to new players. Remember how Halo CE woke you up in the middle of a war you had apparently been fighting?”
which makes me think there won’t be flash backs or any kind of recap. I think we’re in for a Halo 2 length opening cutscene.
Maybe just fill in the gap as we go. Not really a fan of time jump levels in games and a cinematic could be a bit too short to be the only thing explaining the events.
So just implement it in the gameplay if it needs to be explained.
