Now, before anyone says “This has nothing to do with Halo 5”, just hear me out. Because, it actually does.
I’m getting sick and tired of user’s claiming that others are “entitled babies” for not getting what they want on Halo 5. What I constantly see people saying they want, is stuff that probably should have been in the game at Launch: Forge, the other game types, campaign score attack, etc. These are features that have been in prior Halo games at launch ever since they were introduced. Therefore, people have a right to expect certain things to be there when the sequels release.
The definition for “Entitlement” is as follows: the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.
The definition for “Standard” is as follows: a level of quality or attainment
So, for the user’s complaining about other user’s when they request for things to be in game, when they were in previous games. They are NOT entitled. They expected a standard which the previous game met or even increased. For instance, is it really entitlement to have wanted forge when the game released? No. Why? It’s because every game since Halo 3 shipped with forge mode. Is it entitlement for people to ask for splitscreen when they heard it wasn’t in the game? No. Why? It’s because every Halo game prior to Halo 5 shipped with that feature. Is it entitlement for people to ask for a UNSC flying vehicle when they’ve had one in previous Halo games? No.
Bottomline, people ask and request things things due to the fact that they been in prior games before. Those prior games set a standard which sequels have to either meet, or top. As it currently stands, I’m still waiting for 343 to add in a UNSC flying vehicle and several other game modes that were in previous Halo’s. Why? Because they were in PREVIOUS Halo’s. Leading me to believe that they will come back.
Usually when the entitlement comes into play is when people act like 3 year olds when something isn’t there. You know the…I DEMAND or the I’M NEVER PLAYING THIS GAME AGAIN or the 343 are a bunch of (insert something belittling comment). Should the game have had more stuff at launch? Yes. But most the time it is brought in with an entitled brat strategy that probably draws the right people away.
Also, for those that struggle with comprehension, I called no one a brat, I said brat strategy. (Sorry had problems with this before)
I can definitely get behind this. Standards is what to expect in relation to previous instalments; being entitled is wanting something that never should have been expected or deserved in the first place.
Asking for Infection at launch in fine, but demanding bigger Warzone maps is being entitled.

I’m just saying in general though. And I honestly don’t see many posts like that XD
Like, every time I argue something and give points with it, I still get called entitled haha
Its how people complain that leads to “ENTITLED CRY BABY ALERTS”, people that DEMAND they should have something, whilst mindlessly bashing 343 and offering nothing but non constructive bile. If I see something constructive, well thought, I give them props even if most of the time I can’t agree with them.
But when I see “eww 343 made my cat die, I want playable elites and sprint makes my tummy hurt” I call it like I see it.
The funny thing is, the same people who called everyone entitled for asking for forge, infection, grifball, literally anything, praise 343i when they finally add it in, after telling everyone to shut up and quit whining. If you ask me, everyone who says to stop being entitled should leave. I don’t think I’m being harsh, but those who accept mediocrity and tell everyone to stop asking for more are hurting us, the consumers in the long run.

I never really saw infection as a priority for shipping at launch. That always seemed to be a game type which was released later on in the games life. So, to me, that’s usual.
Demanding bigger Warzone maps? Yes, I’ll side with you on that. Requesting for it in future updates because you think it could be more fun, that’s just feedback and suggestions.
Im all for making this forum a better place though and if it takes posts like this to help people further understand how to act I’m all for it. That goes to both sides of the ever running arguments that go on here

I realize that, you’re going to get called a lot having a different point. But you sometimes get lumped into that group whether you like it or not it happens to all of us. There are a lot of valid points brought up but they get lost in the mire of “entitled” posts that draw away from the actual issue.

No, you’re not being harsh. If anything, I’d argue that they just have an EXTREMELY low standard for the game.
Like, the only thing I praise 343 for doing right now is fire fight. I was not expecting to see that in Halo 5. However, if it’s like Reach’s version, I’ll probably review it negatively then get people telling me “You got what you want so stop complaining” XD
The issue comes from the fact that you, the consumer, knew what was in the game before you bought it. 343 was very clear what was in the game at launch, and what was not.
If the game was below your “Standard”, and you bought it anyways, then you are supporting products be released below your “Standard”.
When someone refuses to support something with their dollar until it satisfies their expectations - and lets the producers know what will satisfy those expectations? Those people have my respect. They reward a good product.
When someone supports something with their dollar even when they know know its below their expectations - and then proceeds to complain about the product? Those people have entitlement mentalities. They reward a poor product.

I honestly have no problem with debating. The way I see it, it’s a competition to see who can provide their side with more facts and have bragging rights XD

If not at launch, then at least soon after. It’s pretty unacceptable that it took them half a year to put a fan-favorite mode in the game.
I don’t know, there seems to be a lot of entitled demands in the Halo Wars 2 forum at the moment because the game isn’t just a clone of the original with new units.
I’m actually glad they’ve changed some stuff up in the game otherwise it wouldn’t really be worth buying imo.

I actually didn’t know what was in the game before I bought it. This was literally all I knew:
- Didn’t hear anything about forge until AFTER the game was released
- Didn’t hear about no splitscreen until after the community made an entire big deal about it
- Heard that Halo 5’s campaign was the darkest in the franchise to date (which was a complete lie)
- Heard Halo 5’s campaign would feature the greatest manhunt in history (Duckhunt had a better man hunt)
- They said FREE DLC, but never specified what is was (I’ll give them that point). But I had assumed it would be new content.
- I didn’t know they would add fire fight to the game

That I’ll give you
The BR should be the only relevant weapon, because that was the standard in previous Halos.

Personally, I feel like they really deviated from the original game just for the sake of it. Because they probably could’ve had most of the new stuff implemented through the old formula. Like, all the leader powers could have been bought from the armory for instance. I truthfully would have liked another version of the previous game, but with all the new features that they’ve added XD

Why didn’t you know these things? Didn’t you do your due diligence as a consumer?

You can only know so much before a game’s released. You know that, right?
