In Halo 2 and 3,it got reveales that the troop compartment and cockpit are connected and you can only enter the cockpit trough the troop compartment.
In Halo4 however, you enter then cockpit directly.Does this mean that the troop compartment are no longer connected or has it something to do with the fact that in Halo4 you pilot the gunship variant rather then the regular variant ,or is it just a gameplay mechanic.

It’s also a different model from previous halo’s
If I remember correctly, Osiris entered a D79-series airframe and got into the cockpit via the troop bay at some point in Halo 5’s campaign. And Chief also entered the troop bay from the cockpit in Blue Team’s opening cutscene, and since I doubt there would be too many structural differences between the D79 and G79, I’d say it’s probably just a gameplay thing.
I would say it’s just an additional way for the pilot and co pilot to enter and exit the craft. If in the event the troop bay is blown away or removed to allow for heavier gear to be carried the crew still have a way to get in or out in an emergency.
Well the halo 4 is set about six years after halo 3 and 2. The pelicans seen in halo 4 are different models or variations of the pelican that were developed to replace the pelicans in halo 3 and 2. so it could be a gameplay thing but most likely just cause they aren’t the same aircraft
Since five years since halo 3 passed,(halo timeline), many things got upgraded, so the pelicans could have been one thing.
In universe: Simply a different model.
Out of universe: To make it easier for the player to easily enter and exit it since this one is intended to be pilotable unlike the others.
The new version also appears to have a separated cockpit. This would make ejection easier.
Chief actually just got in directly from the outside, and I’d imagine it would stil be connected to the troop bay, but that particular pelican was more of a heavy weapons shop than a marine ship, so it’s up for debate

Definitely, those things get shot down multiple times each game, it’s kinda sad when you think about it.

Actually, you know how when you come close to a vehicle, and get close to where you drive, it says, press [RB] to enter [Vehicle], when you do that to the pelican, it says “pelican”

Well yea, but Lasky himself said in the game that it wasn’t your average pelican, it was specially designed just for Chief to use for his mission. Also regular pelicans don’t usually have a heavy artillery tank cannon on their back, and they certainly don’t normally have a laser weapon. Standard pelicans only have chin guns, and others have missiles. I think for the sake of keeping it familiar, and so they didn’t fill up the whole text box, they decided to just name it pelican.

It wasn’t designed for cheofs mission, the pelican model it’s self is a standard post war as a heavy support air vehicle.

The Pelican in Shutdown wasn’t specifically made for 117’s use. It’s a gunship variant (designated G79H-TC/MA) meant to enhance the Pelican’s offensive capabilities. What Lasky meant is that he had the G79 ready to go because he expected Chief to try to stop the Didact on his own.

Ok I get it, but it still wasn’t the standard everyday pelican, it was a heavy pelican
