Please note I use foreigner are a blanket term to non-NA players and Canadian players are interchangeable with US players.

For those of you who have played a solid amount of games 50 high in Halo 3 with a party, you’ll understand my frustration with matching foreign players. Whether they were bridging or playing on a host box, these games were more frustrating than any others I’ve ever played in the halo franchise. I’m confident nobody wants those games ever again, so here is the definitive solution to solve the problem.

  1. Players CANNOT match players from another continent in Matchmaking
This is the simple solution. Games between players of different continents are simply not fair. If it’s American host the foreigners don’t stand a chance, and there is nothing more frustrating than having to change your play style to beat foreign players on their host. These games are simply a waste of time.

  2. If it is a mixed continent party, whatever continent has the most players will get host
If for some reason there is a mixed continent party, whatever continent has the most players will always pull host. If there is a tie in the number of players, then the host will go to the American players.

The only possible issue stemming from this is foreigners not being able to get games in matchmaking. Simply put, you should have to wait longer to get a quality game. US players should not be punished because there aren’t enough players from your continent in MM.

I have no problem with foreigners, and I play with them on occasion. But I shouldn’t be forced to play against them on their host unless I choose to in custom games or if I play with a mixed party. If I’m with all NA players, I want to play against NA players.

Have you ever wondered why they don’t show your ping in number of milliseconds? Because when people saw the 1000+ Ms ping from foreign hosts they would go berserk and demand exactly what you are suggesting. A region filter.

Maybe as a search option …

cool story

> Maybe as a search option …

Why not all the time? Games between teams of different continents are neither fair nor fun for whichever team does not pull host.

now this seems that you are standing against foreign players. They payed for the game like you so they should have equal rights. Its the same for us players too. think about those few players that are non-us and they have to play in a party full of people from the us is that very fair for them?

you need to think this out a little better so that every one should have a fair chance

I completely agree. If you look at a lot of the successful multi-player games out there(SC2, LoL, BF3), they have separate servers for continents and regions since the developers have the intelligence to take into account the connection between the players, and that sometimes quality of connection can be a very deciding factor on the outcome of a game.

One downside for me (as a “foreigner” to you) is that I’m going to be playing against Europeans and only Europeans in MM - when the best players are all American. Sure, you can still scrim in custom games but I think this would make it a little more difficult for EU teams to break out.

So you decide to make this again? Exactly from the one that you got locked with such a racist title. Just no…

“I don’t want to play with people on other continents, so no one should!”

Close-minded much?

They do have a fair chance. People from Azerbaijan will still match other players from Asia/Europe.

It’s not a “USA vs everyone else” system, since it’s for the benefit of everybody, regardless of country.

You could try LAN

You have a completely fair chance when you search with players from your continent in my system. It’s better for everyone. Once you play with people from another content you forfeit your right to a quality matchup.

True but not everyone is ok with long search times MANY YES and having it as AN OPTION would let those who are ok with it use it abdul for people that just don’t care that much they wouldn’t have to use it …

Nobody has fun when the entire enemy team has over a 150ms ping.

Not everyone is going to live in a full-time gaming house with Boss Nasti.

It needs to be a region search filter. If you are willing to possibly wait longer for a better quality connection, you check it off. If it’s taking too long to find games, uncheck it.

I could have used this in SQUAD BATTLE in HALO 3

and again this would work as an OPTION IN THE SEARCH PREFERENCE
