What’s with the grunts?
They are arthropods, not reptiles, so why do they look like deformed elites?
Frankie, i’m disappointed in you, this is a obvious canonical issue that could have been easily avoided.

I think they look awesome.

I don’t disagree: They look cool. Quite like the orginal CE concept art, actually. But since then, it’s been pretty conssient that they have exoskeletons, something the grunts we have seen so far clearly lack.

The Grunts in Halo 4 look like those little guys from Gears of War. What were they called? Wraiths? I dunno.
EDIT: They’re called the “Swarm”.

Seriously. Grunts are meant to be the comic relief enemies within the Covenant. They are supposed to like funny and harmless. I cannot imagine those… things, running away from the Master Chief with high-pitched screaming.

Seriously dude? I think that a CE throwback would be welcome. These things usually are, after all.
Plus, the changes are cosmetic, and not even terribly important on top of that. The concept artists don’t need to be chastised for something so simple.

They are ALIENS. They are NOT EARTH BASED life forms. They are ugly because they ARE ALIENS, they probably think we are Ugly.

Frankie isn’t the only one working for 343i i can guarantee that Frank had nothing to do with the final design of the grunts… That’s the artist job.

if they are athropods, then where are the 8 legs and plus the new grunts ACTUALLY look like they have exoskeletons and look like they could tear your face off, and plus their is a canonical reason why they look different so just lean back and wait for some info before saying that “it doesnt fit in with canon”.
They still have the basic look of grunts, but i really don’t like how they’re missing their face mask. How are they breathing?
As long as they play the same, they can look however different they want to.

We’ve heard this plenty of times now, nobody disagrees. The Unggoy are VERY similar to arthropods, just as Sanghili are VERY similar to reptiles. Instead of saying the Unggoy are supposed to be most like arthropods, it is much easier to say they are arthropods, we all know the truth that they are simply similar, it just makes like easier.
You haven’t played the game yet so how do you know that you wont like them!!! You need to wait till the game comes out. God, don’t judge it yet!@!!!
For the first time, I think the grunts have scared me.

Look at the screen shot with the grunt flying thought the air, it has a face mask. Now, as for the grunt with the mouth, I’m surprised nobody has noticed this before, I think that pipe on the side of their helmet is supplying methane to the Unggoy’s nose.
Adapt
It’s hilarious some people care more about how grunts look than what multiplayer is becoming.

Why do people keep saying that same word, “adapt”? You cant even use that word in this thread. Gameplay has always been different from the story, this is a thread about canon, not gameplay. Anyone who wants a respectable canon knows the Unggoy should stay arthropods. You probably play mostly for the multiplayer, nothing wrong with that, but don’t judge people who care more for the canon. Like me, even if Halo literally became COD:2557, Id still buy it for the campaign.

My bad, i meant a mask that covers their mouth. A grunt never has their mouth exposed unless they’re in a methane rich environment, either on a ship or on a planet. I’m fine with change, but i don’t understand why grunts have changed their formula after so long. Where did they even get the means to do so?
