Since we all know that the Covenant have been defeated, wouldn’t the existence of covenant weapons on whatever environment Master Chief would be engaging on a problem in the plot? Perhaps the elites could be on our side… or maybe forerunner swords and weaponry to fill the gap?
My belief is that the Covenent energy sword is that is will be replaced by the Forerunner equivalent.

I can see both human and covenant weapons being on the game due to them being on the Forward Unto Dawn as well as new forerunner items. Though my question is will you only be able to play as Spartans or a new race. I am not sure about elites as the main covenant war is over and their appearance in halo 4 is iffy though it is said that part of the trilogy will focus on the covenant and humans after the war using forerunner technology .Though this could be in halo 5 or 6. Though it is nice to know that there will be maps in the future that will be on earth and other halos.

Or AT LEAST reduced the lunge by allot, and I mean allot. None of this super man flying crap.

are you kidding me? seriously you are going to try the word balanced weapon? Halo’s MM is about the Power Weapons that kids in COD call OP because they dont know anything about a good game. Its a power weapon. you get it and you where a feared player thats why you need to know where to go, what weapons to grab, know which weapons can counter then other. Do you really run into enemies face first when thy have a RL? if so then your a fool. keep your distance from those weapons and take them out, the fact that they but melee blockign sword was bs in HR it was a horrible fail. the sword is so rememorible for its lunge. in reach its not reaching its true potentials. what do you want? every weapon to be equal AR = SL? youd be a fool to believe that.

I have a feeling that they’ll wedge Covenant weapons in somehow. I’d be pretty surprised if it didn’t make it into the game. It’s definitely one of the more iconic weapons that has withstood every installment of the franchise.
I don’t care what kind of sword it is. As long as it looks good (like reach’s one) and you can have never-ending swordfights with it (halo 3).

Sl is Spartan Laser. And OP is overpowered. the OP term never came into existence until CoD4. no one ever complained about Power weapons on Halo 2 unless they completely sucked because it wasnt that hard to figure out weaknesses to them.

I was under the impression that there were Covenant weapons on the FUD.
According to the book that came with Halo 3 that featured a caveat about all the species of the Human-Covenant war, Elites have one of the largest surviving populations. The end of the Covenant civil war left the Elites in a position of power in the galaxy. It wouldn’t at all surprise me if the Elites are an ally in Halo 4, or inversely, they could also serve as a secondary antagonist as well. Point being that they will probably play a part, Energy Swords and all.
He probably has one in reserve. Why would the Chief ditch one of the most badass weapons?
In fact, I bet he has some tribute room with a bunch of Elite skulls adorning it…
Yeah yeah sure… it won’t be removed, it’s one of the main weapons of multiplayer and i doubt they will reduce lunge… its a power weapon, i bet your not crying about the lunge when you have it.

I don’t think the sword will make an appearance in campaign, but luckily campaign=/=matchmaking
Yes, I also think the Needler, PP and PR should return as they are even more iconic than the Energy Sword.
