Energy sword - halo 4

I hope the energy sword can be blocked by a normal melee…makes sense, the shield absorbs the blow making you vulnerable on the next hit.
Hopefully the Title update for reach doesn’t get passed on to halo 4…or else Epic fail for 343

Sword Block was a horrible mechanic that made no sense, the Energy Sword is pure energy, it goes through anything it touches, including puny spartan armour.

no, just no. if the shield absorbs the blow how the blazes can it penetrate the shield in other areas to kill in one hit?. Its a blade of super-heated plasma, not a stick.

exactly my point my good man! If it is supposed to be a power weapon it shouldn’t be blockable.

To sword block haters: please do suggest another nerf to the sprint - sword combo.

Because I doubt the nerf to sprint is going to change anything. The sword’s kill range would go from ABSURD to absurd.

If you get shot you stop sprinting for a few seconds.
Problem solved.

This.
And they’ve already confirmed that when you get shot, your sprint slows down.

Yep and this is what happens now, so sprint with sword wont be like Reach thank god.

No, Sword Block sucks. If the Shield could absorb the first attack, it would no matter where it hit on the body. Also it turns the Sword into the weakest AA when it’s on. And now that Sprint is drastically nerfed it will be fine.

I have to disagree with you there, Sword Blocking made the sword too weak and just didn’t make any sense lore-wise. While it was a good idea in theory, it made the sword less useful and not worth picking up.

Prior to Halo Reach, the only weapon that could defeat a sword in close combat was the Shotgun or by outsmarting the player by outmaneuvering him. Now, any common player can defeat the sword without requiring any sense of gameplay ability.

In plus, good luck trying to block a sword made out of pure plasma with your first. Need I say more?

Sword Block should have stayed on Reach, sprint+sword is one of the most overpowered things in that game. But seeing as Halo 4 seamingly has fix this with its sprint slowing it shouldn’t come back.

Sword should be a one hit kill without a sword block, but it should have the range of a normal melee.

the sword should be a 1 hit kill, but with about 1/4 the lunge range. and while there nerfing the sword, the shotgun could use a buff too.

Real life scenarios, shouldn’t be compared to competitive gaming.

Sword block needs to return in the name of balance.

The sword should slice off your arm if you block and then you have to fight with one hand, which would make your reticule like 3 times as large. There, I said it…

Ok…then the shields should stop a sniper bullet and make it a two shot kill even if you get headshots…

It takes skill to pull of a snipe head shot /balance

Sword block was put in the game because sword+sprint= crazy op
sword block is a way to Nerf the sword put in a skillful way.

Shotgun already outclasses the sword. They both need to return to Halo 3 strength IMO. Sprint change and reduced lunge should prevent sword from being overpowered.
