I noticed this while watching the Return of the Forerunners BTS
at about 6mins 16secs (link takes you to 6:12 to have time to load) after MC uses the hard light shield you see a blue Knight discharge some kind of charged pulse from the energy blade of its sword.
I noticed this in another video else but can’t remember where. I haven’t seen anyone mention this and I dont think I have seen anything about it in the Game Informer article.
It looks like it will be a type of plasma pistol overcharge parallel, but does anyone have any actual info of it?
Scratch that I see what you mean now, I do agree. No clue what it is…
My assumption was that it was simply their method of throwing grenades, being that their other main arm is just a gun, and their second pair of precision limbs don’t look like they’d be particularly useful for throwing something at any substantial distance. I could be wrong, but I can’t imagine what else they would be shooting at you, and they do need some way throwing grenades, unless it just launches out of their body or something.

Watchers could launch grenades - the grenade handling animations + launch system already exists for them as part of their capture/return mechanic

Although that’s true, I’d still be very surprised if Knights had to rely entirely on Watchers to throw grenades. They must have some way of deploying them on their own. They are the primary Promethean ground units, afterall.
After watching it again, I’m positive it’s a grenade. If you look at the final frame, during 6:17, you can just begin to see the star-like shape of the pulse grenade appear as the glowing effect around it fades. It’s the only logical explanation.

Yeah, it doesn’t seem to be originating from the tip of the blade.
Also note it’s weight. Like a Wraith mortar.
