Having only your team outline accomplished the exact same thing without the downsides of making the game unglier than necessary and without giving the enemy team way more info than necessary.
It depends on your eyes mate. An option to toggle off either would be great.
I disagree. The option to turn it off doesnt solve anything because turning it off with it being in the game would be just stupid. You would be willingly giving yourself a disadvantage.
You said it was unnecessary if you can turn off teamnoutlines how are you at a disadvantage?
Because you can see people from a mile away without even be looking in that direction. It makes a difference for the better. Like i said in the OP you wouldnt give enemies unnecessary intel, and vice versa, and since im pretty sure the goal of the outlines is to differentiate the teams, in THAT regard it makes no difference to have them versus just having them for your team. Outline=team, no outline=enemy. So IMO the only times it makes a difference its for the worse.
Because something can be both “unnecessary” and “advantageous” at the same time.
We really REALLY don’t need outlines on anyone on this game, and the game would look so much better without them. All we need is a Name or Service Tag above friendlies, and even an option to still keep the outline on friendlies. But enemy outlines need to be thrown in the trash ASAP, no options to enable or disable, just gone from the game. Sweaties will keep them on if allowed to do so, because yes it’s of course an advantage, but it’s a terrible system so get rid of it for all players.
Ngl sounds like an argument from a typical green armor bush camper sniper from every fps game
Well you’d be wrong because what bothers me is seeing the enemy players from a mile away and not vice versa because when im spotted i cant be sure if they did it because of the outline or not so it doesnt even cross my mind. But when im looking at one part of the map and then i see this enemy spartan appear on the other corner on my screen and just think to myself thats -Yoink!- because i KNOW i would NEVER have seen him if it wasnt for the outline, or sven in previous halo games with color coded armor because even if you were red against a white background in the corner of the screen, it still wasnt as obvious as it is now where you literally glow.
I’m sure the glow is intentionally trying to prevent campers hiding in bushes and dark corners since the game has camo armor, and other fps games suffer from people exploiting premium camo skins and black skins, to the point that they had to be removed from the game and refunded. Also Infinite is basically 40% Destiny with these coatings and other mechanics, so expect worse in the future if you were hoping for classic Halo back
Nowhere in this game is dark enough to exploit black armors or any sort of camos. Obviously, you’ll stick out less than if you wore bright white or yellow, but you cannot disappear.
I heard you can change it back to the Old way is this true? I’d much rather have red vs blue.
The human brain actively prioritizes visual contrast, so to say that darker armors do not offer an advantage due to a lack of inherently dark spaces is inaccurate. This has been proven over several decades of gaming, the less you stand out against your background the higher the chance you have of going unnoticed.
The human eye will also typically ignore dull colors that don’t draw attention, so a black or dark green skin can easily hide in plain sight, especially on a btb map like Deadlock at night, which is why dark colors aren’t in Halo games with custom colors. Infinite is the first to have black and dull dark colors. Actually no, 5 does too. Hm… It’s not black black though like Cloud 9 black. It’s a dark gray.
I dont want the old ways back. Im not a fan of red vs blue and never was. In fact i suggested to do outlines or colored name plates instead months before we knew that it was a thing. But having those things on your team is enough in my opinion. I think that having them on both just brings downsides and yes i’ve read your arguments about camo but i disagree. I never really had any trouble seeing people in halo even in modes where the colors werent red and blue.
I also hated red vs blue. I only got to enjoy my colors on customs and ffa, which to me it always sucked. I like the outlines. Maybe they can lower the range a bit or lower the opacity at a farther distance, but with reasonable distance it should be very clear who is who on what team, especially when scoped in. Some games have an enemy highlight if you tag them while zoomed in on a sniper, and Halo lore uses VISR tech, so that could be a thing. If someone isn’t moving, maybe their outline could dim, but it can’t go away entirely or you won’t be able to tell teams apart. I believe they also added you can change the outline colors because of colorblindness in players
I’d love an option to toggle off the outlines for everyone. Or even just for friendlies. Then I could use the “pineapple” outline color and it would be more or less the same as every other halo
Custom game mode or competitive, but not btb
In 4v4 you at least see your teammates when the game starts so you should be able to only have your team highlight in 4v4 ranked I guess, but btb is too large and chaotic. Infinite disabled team collision and team killing so I guess that partially stops sniping teammates
The outline are ridiculous, you can see an enemy across the map without even looking. Bring red vs blue back, it just works better. Sure that ruins the plan to sell $20 shaders, but the gaming experience would be much much better!
I still say they can just add in rvb classic game modes if people want rvb. It’s still beta and we are missing a ton of game modes. If they prioritize rvb, I have no reason to care about customizations, and a f2p game survives off of people wasting money on cosmetics
The worst part about the outlines is that it makes shield states harder to read. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve died from pushing against an enemy who I thought was at low shield because they were glowing so brightly. But nope, just glowing. It also gives your position away far too easily.
