Sorry if this has been posted before but I have a question about the commendations. It is telling me I have killed 35 grunts total in spops mode…this just cannot be possible…and yes I am on the first level of proficientcy…every enemy commendation has a similarly love level…only fifteen elites killed yet i completed the 90 elites challenge the other day…what gives?
Don’t worry, your commendations are correct. There are 5 levels to each commendation and you are currently on the level where you need 250 grunt kills. You have 35. The same logic goes for every single commendation in the game.
Each commendation has 5 levels except for the campaign ones.
You are awarded separate bonuses of XP upon completion of each of the 5 levels.
I am aware of this…I am on the first level of the commendation…so in six or so hours of spartan ops i have killed 35 grunts…? I dont think so…bear in nind I rarely play with anybody else…nope that aint right is it…ive killed atleast a hundred today alone…

I don’t think you are on the first level. Isn’t it adept or novice or whatever.
And don’t forget there are different Ranks/Classes of each enemy, like ultra, infantry etc
You looking on the Waypoint stats or the ingame stats?
The waypoint stats for you seem accurate. So your game stats are skrewed up. Maybe try restarting your xbox. Or maybe you might need to do a fresh install of your second disc that came with halo.<-- thats what I would suggest after a restart.
I’ve just taken a look for you:
Grunt Slayer = 37/250 + 125 for first commendation = 162
Grunt Imperial = 103/150 + 75 for first commendation = 178
Grunt Ultra = 40/50 + 25 for first commendation = 65
Total Grunts killed = 405
Does 405 sound about right?
There’s a different rank to covenant types such as zealot elite is different to elite in kill counts. If you play a lot on legendary you wouldn’t have seen a lot of lower class grunts so this could be correct. There’s a flaw in the game because you need to do episodes on easy/normal to get the lower class grunts. Just means you need to do the spec ops episodes on different difficulty levels to complete the set. Hope this makes sense.
For the Backstab commendation Ep6 Chapter 3 is very good. There are lots of sleeping grunts at the beginning who are easy to assassinate. Spawn with active camo and use it to assassinate the elites, who are not asleep (look around carefully in camo and don’t wake up anyone). Later on the mission when you encounter Knights, use your camo, wait till they turn around after spotting you, then rush to them from behind and assassinate (but be careful with those with the scattershots). When your camo is low on energy or more than one enemies spotted you, get to a cover where they can’t see you and wait till your camo recharges. I also recommend getting an energy sword or scattershot ASAP (Swords are placed at 2 or 3 crates throughout the map and elites may drop them also. Scattershots are available at the forerunner structure in 3-4 crates and at some of the Knights), so if things go bad with the backstabs, you can quickly clear out your surroundings.

Did you post this in the wrong topic by mistake? The OP is referring to the fact that his Grunt kills don’t seem to be recognised on his stats.
Anyway, thanks for the tips - very useful for the Backstab commendation as I still have a couple hundred to go for that I think.
