I just watched a YouTube video that was posted 2 months ago by HiddenXperia titled New Halo Infinited Details. In the video he makes mention about a possible “mystery box” in Halo Infinite… Now that got me thinking.
Back story:
I played a game years ago (I am pretty sure it was Call Of Duty: Zombies). For those who have not played this the objective is to survive as many rounds as possible (solo or in a team) against ever increasing rounds of zombie attacks. Between each round you have time to rebuild barriers and open up new areas. For each kill and burrier rebuild you earn points to unlock new rooms and purchase new weapons that are in the map.
Soo… What’s the correlation? The mystery box.
In the zombie game there is a mystery box where you can purchase random weapons to help fight off the zombie hordes. Now… IF there is going to be a mystery box in Infinite it would not be far fetched for me to assume (and in all honesty HOPE) for a multiplayer game type where you are fighting off FLOOD. The prospect of this is VERY exciting to me and has greatly increased my overall excitement to play Infinite as soon as possible when it comes out.
Would love some feedback:
Has anyone ever played this zombie game I’m refering to?
What’s it really called?
Would this be something you’d be interested in playing in Halo Infinite?
Should there be a limit to how many rounds each game has?
What do you think would be the best min-max of players?
What weapons should be in the mystery box?

Halo did try something like this with firefight but never with the flood. I would love the idea of surviving rounds of flood and maybe after surviving long enough get a boss fight with grave mind (all of this is would be non-canon of course).

Oh WOW… A boss round where you face Gravemind? Don’t know how they would incorporate that but that would be crazy fun to play

Yeah the idea comes from a little to much time playing cod zombies. In certain zombie maps you have the ability to fight mini bosses or big bosses and doing bosses like warzone does bosses would be amazing.
It could be a copy of cod but if could be really funny and great
You sure he didn’t mean mystery box as in the story telling technique? That’s when an element is introduced into the story without proper explanation, allowing for the creation of mystery and the possibility of new stories to arise in the future addressing the questions it generates.
However, Halo used to have a horde mode called Firefight, which was endless wave based survival. They never implemented the Flood, but that would be something fun to include again.

I am positive he was referring to the concept of an actual mystery box. However… I could have missed something from the video. Here’s the link:
The mention of the mystery box is at 6:32.
Don’t know why, but I dont recall playing any horde mode… I’m interested in playing to see if it is similar to what I’m talking about. Which game was it on?
Yeah, this would work quite smoothly in Halo.A simple spin on the mystery box would be to have a Longsword drop Ordnance pods like they do in-game.

They can take inspiration from halo wars 2:
After X amount of wave defeated, 4 larges tentacles appear around the map and surround the players.
Tentacles:
These limbs act as whip that deal large amount of damages to the player (1 hit take down the player shield, 2 hit kill the player). The tentacles can be destroyed but get regenerated when the Gravemind enter in the X phase
The Mouth:
The orifice release every 120 sec large wave of flood infection forms (their role is to take down players shields and keep their attention as they can revive the corpses on the ground)
X phase:
***The player can only deal damage to the Gravemind at this moment
Once the gravemind will have lost his tentacles, he will appear. At this moment the Gravemind will be defenseless against the players (they can however only take 25% of his maximum health during this period).
Every 25% of maximum health took by the player a flood reinforcment will appear
Enforcement I:
12 Combat forms
5 Pure forms
Enforcement II:
23 Combat forms
7 Pureform
Enforcement III:
35 combat forms
12 pureforms
1 - Special unit (flood juggernaut)
Maps:
The firefight can take place on two different maps…
1 - Complexe Forerunner
On this map, the combat forms are equiped with sentinel beams.
The player can activate hardlight turrets
2 - High Charity
On this map, the combat forms are only composed of infected brutes/elites
The players can activate a generator that will overdrive and destroy all the flood infection forms and paralyze all nearby combat / pure forms
Once the boss is beaten, the gravemind will retreat and return on the next boss wave
This would be awsome mabye somthing like awakening the nightmare but.u just trying to stay alive instead of defend the thing or whatever

WOW… You have given this alot of thought. I love the enthusiasm… Couple questions… If there is to be a boss round.
How many rounds would there be in leading up to it?
Can you heal/revive other players?
Once the boss is defeated is the game over or does it continue till all players are dead?
What’s the max players for the playlist?

I can’t remember if the Ordanance Drops were in the PVP game modes on H4 or Reach but I agree. That could actually work way better than the mystery box concept. Not to mention its already something Halo players have already experienced

The whole group posses a maximum of 100 lives

An endless flood mode would be crazy cool, but imagine if we could use our own forge maps that we create and have those be able to be played with the endless flood mode. I’ve always wanted to be able to create a map and have the ability to face AI with friends, somewhat like firefight.
Ive been trying to tell people for years that Halo needs a Flood Survival mode like this. No objectives, no end, just infinite rounds/waves of flood.
imagine a crazy flood survival mode, on the map… SILENT CARTOGRAPHER from halo ce, the perfect map to do so, you can go in, you can go out, but can’t leave the island. you can run, even drive a warthog! it would make my day. and the farther you go… the stronger/smarter the flood until moments where they can shoot. and then also… random covenant drops, who fight against you and the flood (when they’ll ofcourse lose and change into flood), but just gives a little bit more randomness
I think that’s not a bad idea it would be nice to work with other players to survive but warzone firefight kind of did that but you have objectives to complete
You want endless flood? Play “the Library”
Seriously though, this has been done in Halo. I personally don’t care for it, but I don’t think it should be limited to just the flood.

True… In a way WZFF is kinda like what I’m referring to BUT like you said… Its objective based… An endless Flood game wouldn’t really have any more objective than too see how long you and/or your team can survive. Thats the point… Its just for fun

I actually like that map ALOT. You can’t beat a classic from HCE. with that map late just say the goal is to survive 10 rounds while hearing from Foe Hammer between each rounds that she is enroute… After 10 rounds you have a cut screen where you see her about to drop in to pick you up… But… OH NO… Somethings wrong… For Hammer crashes and her drop ship unloads with another round of flood LOL
So much for the extraction
