End of Glasslands Cliffhanger (spoilers)

At the end of Glasslands Phillips enters the forerunner “crypt” on sanghelios and everything goes black shortly thereafter. This of course points to the possibility that his presence activated whatever forerunner artifact that 'telcam is using as headquarters. It’s also a good possibility that 'telcam knew it would happen. 'telcam led him there and also said to jul earlier in the book that an area there was not meant for them to open. Its also stated that it could be a map of some kind and at the center of a panel symbols were laid out in horizontal rows with lines radiating from them to individual symbols around the edge of the cartouche. This panel is covered by a shield like matte glass which seemed to dissolve into the wall.

“the shield was placed there long before the San 'Shyuum arrived” and “the servants of the day said that touching the symbols produced strange effects” -pg 177

Could it be that this has some thing to do with shield worlds? A map perhaps? Maybe a shield world for every ring? That doesn’t make 100 percent sense so I’d appreciate some idea or speculation or theories.
I’m a little over half way thru my second read of Glasslands and this is what I’ve got so far. (I didn’t come to this conclusion my first read before I read primordium) i also think it’s a possibility that phillips has a geas that caused him interest in the sanghelios planet and artifacts and culture. Again I’m just throwing an idea out there.
I’m sure I’m not the only to have npriced this since Glasslands came out so even finding a tread link about this would be cool. I just figured its the most relevant theory in Glasslands and It might deserve a discussion.

P.S. I’m on my iPhone and might have left you with some poor paragraph and sentence structure. I apologize in advance

A pretty decent idea, Phillips being present there is definitely not a coincidence. I always considered it to be a Brute attack since things were pointing towards the Brutes re-arming themselves and we know the Elites fight them well unto 2558. I could very well be wrong or both may be happening.

I think it’s too much of a coincidence for the brutes to attack sanghelios of all places while the human is there. It’s also not the first place brutes would strike. It’s just a temple, not a known base

The Brutes aren’t exactly expert strategists, all they seemed to be used for is campaigns of terror and brutality by the Covenant. That said, the Brutes jacking Elite ships has to come to something. However, I do agree that Philips may have triggered something, but 'Telcam’s “It’s not us!” statement concerns me.

They are not great strategists but they are not stupid. It still makes no sense. Brutes are the last thing anybody would care to fight because they are idiots. Its one evil that nobody, including hinge heads, will care to fight or be concerned about with everything thats going on. I think you can take brutes out of the equation.

Someone didn’t read Halo: Evolutions story The Return. Point is though, something Forerunner must’ve been triggered.

Don’t excuse me of not reading a mildly relevant story in a short story novel. The post war saga and forerunner saga are the only books so far that 343 themselves said would have resonant connections to Halo 4. Thats irrelevant though because what I said is still true regardless even if you put return into consideration. Mark my words, its not brutes.

If it wasn’t meant to be an important part of the story, then they wouldn’t put it in. It very well may not be Brutes, I have said something Forerunner is probably at work there, but we can’t discount the Brutes either. It could be both for all we know.

I’d have to agree with GoVader here. It seems you haven’t read the Return. It showed the Brutes are forces to be reckoned with, and they are not the last thing anyone would care to fight. Great strategists they may not be, but savage in nature are they. And that which is savage is feared.

Alright. I’ll trade in my ego and level with you guys. I just thought that the brutes would have no urge to attack the temple because from their point of view something like a ship dock or command center or government structure would be more likely. However, I JUST read the chapter that mentions 'telcams brute body guards. Also hint at their possible disloyalty. Id say this is plenty to suggest that they are brute “spies” and have gathered reason to attack. I do though stand by it being the activation of the forerunner structure. So any thoughts on what this structure may be would be appreciated, seeing as this is far more likely given the evidence stated in my original post.

I have to say, this has built up my faith a little in the way canon has been handled. Only if this is what happens though.

I forgot no one cares about Glasslands. My bad.
