Couch gaming has been a staple of the Halo franchise forever, and with Halo 5 that will come to an end, limiting the game to only 2 player split screen instead of 4.
My faith in 343 and Microsoft had been restored when I found out TMCC did support 4 player local, however now it is gone again.
We the fans must petition 343 to change their minds and include it in the final game. They have an entire year to make it work, I honestly don’t care if they have to turn down the resolution or framerate to make 4 player work, they should do whatever they have to. I bought an Xbox One because I thought it was a step forward, not a step back.
Every weekend my dad, my brother, my uncle, and I all grab some snacks, head downstairs, and play local 4 player custom games. Lately we’ve been grinding through ALL the maps in TMCC and we are about halfway through Halo 3’s. I will be deeply saddened if we can not continue this tradition in Halo 5.
I tweeted him today and he said the same thing except added “4 player Xbox Live coop” to the end and said “more coming soon…” This leads me to believe that he is referring to splitscreen in campaign. I really hope he is because multiplayer deserves 4 player splitscreen.

Who in God’s name still plays split-screen. I played splitscreen for like a year during halo 2 and then both my brothers/ every one I know that plays games got their own xbox and account, because who in God’s name wants 1/2 or 1/4 of the screen.
This is such a non-issue simply because everyone buys their own xbox now and because you can play on xboxLIVE so there is no reason to have your friends over.

Just because you feel the need to not play with your friends face to face (especially if you have non gamer friends) doesn’t mean others don’t. Don’t be selfish.

That makes zero sense if he ISN’T referring to campaign. Here’s to hoping he clarifies.

Do you honestly believe that Halo would be where it is today without splitscreen? That anyone would have given a -Yoink- about Halo CE’s multiplayer if they needed over a thousand dollars worth of equipment just to play with two people?
Sure, we live in an online world now, but splitscreen is an intergral part of Halo’s legacy. I made friends for life playing spitscreen Halo, and now that feature is apparently gone from the series. End of an era almost doesn’t do it justice.

This. Hell, split screen was the only way you could play Halo CE multiplayer on the Xbox, that’s because LIVE wasn’t a thing yet.
The lack of splitscreen for 4 players in the final game will severely cut off the possibility of new potential fans whom rarely play consoles or Xbox. 4 players is what made Halo: CE and 2 so successful, and the same can be said for the later Halo titles to a slightly lesser extent due to online multiplayer being more prevalent.
And who the hell still plays splitscreen? People like me when I get my brother and cousins to throw down on each other because we do not have >1 Xbox nor >1 TVs. Then when we are not throwing down on one another on LAN, I will be playing online multiplayer myself.
