End Match Victory Animations and UI concerns

The end of the match victory animations seem very out of place. It looks like mo-cap for NFL Blitz instead of a Sci Fi Military Shooter. It’s such a disconnect in feeling about who these Spartans are instead of hard trained soldiers the animations feel like frat house dudes winning a game of beer pong. It’s a minor annoyance at best but really does not support the overall narrative impression.

The load time when backing out of a playlist search is too long. Hopefully only because it’s beta right?

Also I couldn’t find a way to quit a fire team or boot a member from the team in the roster menu.

I can’t stand those animations. Load time will most likeky improve. The callouts also need improvement, “snipes”, really. I don’t know if its just me, but does it indicate where and who someone is when they pick up a power weapon.

I couldn’t agree more. They look like hood rat trash trying to overcompensate. It’s not even a little cool. Granted, these aren’t original Spartan IIs. They’re the crappy ones Chief fought alongside in halo 4, so I guess they’re allowed to look ridiculous.

What people are forgetting is that these are simulations. And that these are Spartan IVs, Augmented humans that weren’t raised to kill, not Spartan IIs that were lifeless genetically perfect children that grew up with military indoctrination.

Imagine that you’re just playing a game of nerf with some friends and you win. Your actions are:

A:) Congratulate your fellow teammates with high fives and fist bumps all around.

B:) Act Cocky towards the other team of friends and show off a little.

C:) Act silent and edgy, which isn’t a fine decision really at all because that doesn’t raise moral with your fellow team very much. However, it is choice.

D:) Other I guess?

The thing is that Spartan IVs treat it like a game, which it basically is. (Hence the name, War Games) Not everything needs to be taken seriously and life like. I imagine they would only be used in competitive arena games and not games like BTB or infection, so you probably won’t have to worry too hard if it still bothers you.

I understand the reasons, but it t breaks immersion for me. That’s my character, but I would not behave like that.

The end match animations are way too similar to Destiny.

I suppose.

I don’t know, I think we really should be concerned over more objective problems, like how TTK is stupidly low, or how how the BR is too accurate and should have either bloom or more spaced out cross-hairs to make it less ranged, and worry about subjective problems later.

The animations are fine. It adds a bit of humour to the end of the match.

This one comes from my other half, that’s right, my wife! My wife has sat and watched me play Halo for a long time, she enjoys watching me play and gets excited to see all the action which unfolds on the screen while laughing at my funny friends. My wife has not only watched me play every Halo game, but she has also read Halo books, watched Halo movies and enjoyed Halo Nightfall like it was priority number ONE!

The one thing that she pointed out to me about the HALO 5 BETA was this:

"When the game is over, the SPARTANS are all giving high fives, raising their arms, bouncing up and down like cocky a**es!
(and what she then said, made me agree)

“That’s not what SPARTANS would do…they are disciplined and professional soldiers!”

It’s all about PERCEPTION - and I think she’s right, the after game Spartan’s should look more like the before game Spartan’s!!!

How? Destiny just has The Crucible Holder saying stuff like "Gud jobb gardeeunz, u fot wel.’ and then it just shows the score and rewards. Then back to orbit

Because these are Spartan IVs, you guys are missing the point, they werent trained as kids and are basically ODSTs in armor. So they have the right. And also, its a simulation, not a REAL war. Master Chief and the rest of Blue team ALSO did this during training. But they didn’t act like that in a real war (Except for Kelly, she did it most of the time in a real combat situation)

It makes no sense that it takes 45secs to back out when you press b and exit during intermission.

But if you go to your party app and leave party, it will return you to the main menu almost instantly.

I swear 343 is the dumb af.

Lol…very spot-on…I couldn’t agree more. In fact, I basically said the same thing in this thread…

Yeah…just…remove it. lol

I’ll be honest, at this point I don’t even notice them. At first, yeah, I thought they were ghastly but now, not so much. I feel there’s more pressing issues to focus on.

I think it overall fits in. My stint in the military taught me a little about this. Most militaries will have some “in house rivalries” pitting squads against squads, platoons against platoons companies against companies, etc… its a way of keeping your personel sharp and in combat form when not fighting a real enemy. sergeants and officers will give small pep talks to crank the morale into euphoria and to hype each person up into giving it all. IT also fits in with 343 trying to push back into esports and such… much like unreal tournament.

I find the whole ending animation complaints a bit ironic because that’s how most players who play Halo (or ANY FPS in that matter) act whenever they win a game.

In my 13 years of Halo, and 3 years of clan experience, NEVER have I seen people act like that, hell, if you act like that in clans, you would get the boot in a heartbeat.

Besides I think the bigger complaint for the SPARTAN-IVs is that their armor strength is crap compared to the other MJOLNIR armor not their -Yoinking!- bragging rights

Good for you and I’m sorry I wasn’t aware you knew how EVERY clan acted.

Well, duh…that’s the whole point. The animations are thus vacuous stereotypical projections on YOU, the player. You game shouldn’t have to show it…the excitement should speak for itself…
