My first time posting a topic here and I hope it goes well. I just wanted to bring these topics up again so that the devs can see this and make their “tallies” and hopefully change things for the better.
I just want to know what the community thinks overall on Crossplay. I personally think that we should have an option for this but seeing that the player count may not be where it needs to be so that we can have this feature, Im not surprised… Im on Series X. I just don’t think its a fair fight against PC. To me its more like a monopoly scheme with companies that have forced crossplay and I wont dive to deep into that but FPS(Frames Per Second) matter… Forced Crossplay needs to end.
Now my biggest pet peeve and the main reason I have been inactive on Halo:Infinite for months now is because of the non existent “Player Collision”. Im not trying to be mean to the Devs or 343i or anyone who may be against Player Collision but, Ive sat and thought about WHY player collision wouldn’t be in a TEAM FPS, and I honestly could not find a reason. I honestly think that it is beyond childish to not have a fully functional Player Collision in ANY TEAM BASED GAME in 2023… Seeing people phase through each other looks very cheaply made and its like someone didn’t complete the job so far as development goes. Again, Im not trying to be mean but there is no excuse for Player Collision not being fully functional in 2023… I had a match where I thought I was shooting at one person coming up the stairs Whirlpool/Elevator on Recharge, But then the one spartan I was shooting became a four armed Super Spartan with an Energy sword… I just… I mean man… Its deflating to see something that looks that cheap… I feels fake, it looks fake, its childish. Devs, Please do the right thing and make player Collision PERMANENT. not an “Option”… I can only imagine how that would look in game where some people have Player Collision turned on and some people don’t… its childish man, Do the right thing 343…
More over on Player Collision, Its just one of the core Halo values of the SandBox. I mean, We ought to be able to stand on each others head to form a huge spy balloon and take selfies… IJS…
One of the 343 devs on reddit recently hinted at them working on and potentially adding player collision.
They will not seperate crossplay again unless the playerbase booms again and stays consistent. Right now a lot of people are still struggling to find ranked matches because the playerbase is so low.
Wait… ranked is having problems finding players for games? That sounds so bizarre because every time I see someone here on the forums talking about ranked they proclaim it from on high that ranked is the most popular and the only thing that matters, but you’re saying that nobody is playing it? Weird… I never have any issues finding games in any social playlist.
Could it be that all those LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS people that think they’re the only person that matters were wrong? I’m shocked, shocked I say. Speechless infact.
But in all seriousness, yeah the population is not doing so well and they probably won’t do cross play settings unless this the population can support it across most playlists.
Why exactly do you think it’s not a fair fight against PC?
Please, go into a deep dive. Just don’t forget to go into a deep dive about the server’s tick rate because that matters more. And the tick rate is the same for everyone regardless of your hardware.

if you look how big off a mess 343 not has done with halo infinite for the last year all.
do you still think after all the bad and worse news that has come out that people still have trust in then.

If they end cross-play, the population will dwindle much more than it already is. Even with cross-play being optional, you will get much fewer players in games. I do agree about player collision, it needs to return.
about the crossplay part i can understand that its to late for halo infinite to make it a option since the population is so worthless that a lot off people have lost there trust in it to return for sure.
most off all to make crossplay from the start force and never have make it a option at the start of the game was something wrong since last year there was a good option to do it without any bad effect’s at all since the population was high.
and i hope if there going to release a new halo game there make it a option from the start and not make the same mistake. ( saldy the hope for it there really going to do it is really low since knowing 343 and learning from mistake’s is something i not trust at all.)
Halo Mcc is still doing ok and it has crossplay options. This not finding rank games thing might have more to do with how bad Halo Infinite server work outside of the USA.
if you think mcc is doing well then i don’t know what to say. The game is dead and alive? I wonder who disables crossplay at all in mcc. Once you turn this off, you can forget about finding a match
I really don’t understand 343’s mindset when it comes to player collision. first of all, I have never once seen an actual PLAYER say that collision is a good thing, its just something the devs insist makes the game better. I have no idea how it makes the game better or what base for an argument that would even be. I personally have had nothing but bad experiences because of it. So many times i have a rocket and a teamate phases through me as im shooting it (nobody’s fault, that just shouldnt even be able to happen in halo) and then i die. Same thing goes with throwing grenades where a teamate just goes right through me and blocks it.
My first thought was that it was a weird rule that they had to have it in the game just so nobody would forget its a free to play game and needs to have a feature (or lack there of) to remind people it’s a free and cheaply made game.
If there really is a reason collision is disabled that helps with ranked, fine, sure. Collision can stay out of ranked. I don’t care because I hate ranked. But if the absense of it detracts from the players and their ability to have fun, it should at least be in social games.
First up. Crossplay. I don’t get the angst. Cheating isn’t anywhere near as rampant as people make out. And the ranking system means that you don’t have to worry about what input the player you are playing with or against is actually using. Just get out there and have fun.
Secondly. Collision.
I was in a similar thread about 2 to 3 months ago. And since then I’ve made a conscious decision to keep track of every time player’s walking through each other affected game play.
I have zero examples of team mates walking through me and affecting my shots and / or grenades.
Why would you be that close to a team-mate anyway? You would just be feeding the opposition multi-kills?
And I have three jots re: enemies walking through each other. Which was a bit frustrating. But only one I thought cost me my life. Or at least a trade before I died - when someone stepped in front of a certain bulldog kill.
I’m honestly not sure what the fuss is about. Maybe BTB is a bit different?
I was also in that thread arguing that lack of collision is a problem. Also it’s important to note that you are not in control of team mates coming from behind you and blocking shots/grenades. It might not be smart play but I can’t stop them. You are in control of not walking through your team mates and causing them the same problems though.
I played 16 games yesterday and got screwed over 3 times by the lack of collision.
Had one grenade bounced back at me by a teammate while I had broken shields and got killed. Arguably I would have died with collision on as well since I may not have been able to retreat from the doorway in the first place.
Had another instance of trying to grenade a room with multiple enemies and the oddball. A team mate ran through me blocking my grenade. I backed off, they ran in dying a quick death and I had to wait for more support. With collision on he would have bumped into me ,the grenade would have gone into the room and we both could have followed it for a fighting chance to capture the oddball.
The third instance was shooting an enemy with the needler when another enemy ran through them absorbing some of the needles. Needless to say I died without a kill when I was a certainty to kill at least one of the enemies.
I don’t say this as someone who desperately wants friendly collision turned on because I’m sure I would also get annoyed by instances of having my movement blocked but ultimately that feels like a trade off worth making in my opinion.
I did have had gotten situations where a teammate walked in front of me and that caused me to throw a nade against him and i got damaged/killed and where a teammate walked in front of me and blocked my shots (but also blocked shots from the enemy though).
However: those situations i have also had in MCC with collission on. They can’t come directly from the back, but still can come diagonally from your backside, or still from the side (especially around corners/doors you won’t notice that untill its to late). So it’s not like those situations won’t happen with collission.
However: what i haven’t got anymore are people who deliberately block a doorway, so i couldn’t get away from a nade or an enemy shooting at me. That for me was a bigger problem then now with people walking through me from my back.
So overall, i see more benefits from the removal of collission. So i don’t mind it being removed. But that it just my opinion and i get that others have a different experience and therefore a different conclusion.
Perhaps they could add collission in ranked, since that is a bit more serious playlist. Could be a nice distrinction between social and ranked. Although i think they removed collission because it caused problems with the grapple hook and some other stuff?
How many Matchmaking Games Played do you have? I have so many examples of Player Collision or lack there of, causing me to shoot my team mate in the back or sticky grenade them because they phased right through me, Ive had people hiding in a corner on top of each other, Ive shot at one person thinking it was one person but they megamorphed into 4 armed Super Spartan… little over 1900 games played for me and I even complained about it in all of the Test flights that I got invited to. With no player Collision, that triple kill you were supposed to get because you saw 3 players hiding at the door of a room, you wont get it because they can EASILY escape and phase through each other. The Sprint in this game is already BUSTED you can run straight through bullets which is another topic that Im going to complain about…
At the end of the day, it makes PHYSICAL sense for players to collide. It makes it more realistic
