I can count the number of times I’ve had a pleasurable experience playing a 3v4 match (in either position) on one hand. Ending the match immediately so everyone can get back to the queue would be most ideal.
With bots entering the picture, 343 have said that a dropped player could be replaced with a bot. This solution could work for social playlists but not competitive ranked.

Absolutely not. Sometimes this gives my team an advantage (especially in swat or snipers).

this the less people on my team in swat the easier it is to win, also sometimes people get DC’ed id rather a reconnect option.

Yea, just wait till you inevitably run into that teammate that you didn’t get along with in a previous match and they just decide to quit during the following match… OR wait till someone trolls you by leaving when you’re winning 49-45 and that person just quits before the last kill… How would you even justify a win or loss if the winning team has a player quit mid match…?
I need some logic

I’d say this is an anecdotal fallacy.
You actually are not at an advantage having less players and if you win a game 4v2 in SWAT or Snipers then this just speaks to the 4 player teams inexperience. Especially Snipers.
In some games the match is abandoned if someone quits before a kill is gotten and someone quits. I agree with this approach for ranked. If a kill has been gotten for either team I think the game has to play until completion without backfilling.

Fallacy? I think not lol. I can average 20 kills during Swat especially so losing a teammate usually means more kills and less deaths. Snipers are more variable however usually going the same way.
They’ve made reference that Join in Progress is returning, though if that applies to ranked remains to be seen.

That’s why I said it’s anecdotal. I’ve had games of Snipers/SWAT where I have got 48+ kills due to quitters and won 4 Vs 1.
It doesn’t mean it’s an optimal scenario and with a tight skill based matchmaking it’s a severe disadvantage. I am not more likely to win without my teammates. If the enemy team work together, they win. They can cover more spawns, they can 2v1 you, it’s just at a mixed skill level you don’t see the disadvantages. Any team that loses 4v3 is just playing it poorly, as they aren’t using the numbers advantage like they should be which in a game like Halo is huge. People say it in objective, it’s clear as day, it’s the same in slayer but the average player doesn’t capitalise on it as much.

It won’t be in ranked. They haven’t flat out said it, but they know what they’re doing.

Predictable spawns in Halo 2/ Halo 3 I could agree with you however modern Halo doesn’t have the spawn issue nearly as much. The issue you are bringing up though only really matters if you are playing at a Onyx or higher level. People are running with full teams at that point in ranked usually.

Halo 5 has predictable spawns, it’s only Halo 4 which is the outlier. Looking at how they are building Infinite, Halo Infinite will have predictable spawns too. We will be able to test it this weekend with the bots for sure.
As the issue exists, it should be considered. Even if it only affects the 5-10% in Onyx/Champion. I feel if the games are equal skill though the Team of 3 likely loses more often than the Team of 4 at all skill levels. I’m sure they will have statistics which shows them this is the case. Either way, it’s not fair on either team as if there is a disadvantage or an advantage it still tips in one teams favour, so restarting the game with a new player seems most appropriate. As I say though, I think this should only happen if no kills have taken place when the player leaves.

I think people should just fill in and have bots (as long as they are actually competent) for the time it takes for someone to join. The system just works. I do not think bots should be added after a specific time though because losing a match because of a bot is a major oof.
