Over the past few months, we’ve been gathering your feedback on Arena map weapon layouts here on Waypoint, and we’ve made a variety of refresh updates to a select set of Arena map / game type combinations in Team Arena.
For Empire, the following changes have been made:
Version 1
Storm Rifles removed and replaced with Boltshots - SMGs moved from Red/Blue Platform to inside Red/Blue Base - Overshield moved to Tower Two - Plasma Pistol moved to Mid - Removal of four Frag grenades and two Plasma grenades - Reshuffling of grenade placement - Battle Rifles removed - Removed DMR at Tower 3 and placed one at each of the Red/Blue Platforms - (CTF) Closed the front windows to Red/Blue Base to slow down CTF gameplay and fortify each base - (CTF) SPNKr Rocket Launcher replaces the Plasma Caster at the Outside location - (CTF) Shotgun moves to Tower One - (Strongholds only) Scattershot moves to Pit - (Strongholds only) Moved Stronghold location: Pit -> OutsideVersion 2
Moved Overshield from Tower 2 to Pit - (Strongholds only) Moved Overshield from Tower 2 to Outside - (Strongholds only) Moved Stronghold location: Outside -> Pit and increased height of zone to encompass Top Mid - (Strongholds only) Replaced Scattershot with SAW at Tower 2 - (Strongholds only) Removed SMGs from each baseVersion 3
(Strongholds only) Reduced height but increased width of Pit StrongholdThank you! We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Remove Splinters from Sneakies, they are way too powerful for a tight area like that - Storm Rifle removal is great, Boltshots fit nicely - BR Removal/DMR placement is a positive change - Remove Barrels from Tower 2 for less gimmicky kills during OS contentionSlayer/CTF/Assault:
I don’t believe Shotgun and Plasma Pistol should be so close to Tower and coexist. I’d personally remove Shotgun from Tower. Either place it in Pit or place a Scattershot in Pit insteadStrongholds:
I haven’t been able to play this one yet with the Outside Stronghold, but it definitely seems like better flow rather than having people rush Pit with automaticsMore feedback to come
just a general observation after reading all the changes, Iv noticed BRs have been removed as a whole and replaced with the boltshot aka noobshot, can I ask why?
I don’t understand why 343 wants to shove the bolt shot down our throat; the br takes more skill to use and should not be removed from this map. I don’t think you needed to take out both storm rifles; I think one in the turbine would be a nice way to counter the smgs that are still on the map.
I agree with what everyone else is saying. The BR should not be removed and replaced with the Boltshot. They both have about the same TTK, but the Boltshot has homing shots, making it require less skill to use than the BR.
The BR should stay.
OS and stronghold location should move back to pit. It takes more skill and teamwork to defend pit.
storm rifles should stay.
Leave the windows open. Too easy for noobs to camp.

Love it!
Man, that Pit brawl for strongholds is EPIC! Can’t get rid of that! It’s the key to winning strongholds!
Agreed with windows open. If anything, we need LESS windows! Tear down the wall!!
Shortening the flag return time and blocking the windows is overkill if the goal is to make it more difficult to cap a flag. Either or might do the trick. I am not a fan of maps that are exactly the same but have sections that change. It’s dull, and feels lazy. Fresh content makes things fresh, not opening and blocking elements on an already existing map. That just wrecks a pre-existing flow.
Seriously, the mass deletion of BRs in these maps have some saying they’re considering leaving Halo for good. I already have friends who left early and others who hate matchmaking because of the lack of BRs and DMRs, especially on BTB maps.

New location of the stronghold it’s bad. It’s nearly impossible to hold (sometimes) even if you have it well covered it is to open, thus taking away any skill involved with this map. A good stronghold map before, but with this move it just turns into a bad stronghold map where people are free to run around and take any base. Takes away the skills associated with this map.
Bring back the BRs on every map you removed them from! that is the essence of halo. Its supposed to be about skill not just random luck. Stop pandering to the kids who want be able to pick up the controller and be good instantly.
The boltshot requires no skill to use. This sounds like it should be a social slayer decision. So please bring back the BR! In fact, add more!
CTF does not work no matter what changes you make. The pit stronghold should go back to pit not outside. OS in tower plays bad. Having it bottom mid is how it plays best.
DMR’s do not fit this map well. It’s pretty small and most engagements are fairly close quarters. I personally like the placement of the DMRs but feel that BRs in their place would make more sense for the size of the map and the engagement distance.
I personally think the pot being the 3rd strong hold is better. Once capped you have more options to relocate In the map for a better vantage point. Outside basically you just fall back to your base. And then every 2 minutes you move to tower for overshield? That’s dumb. stop tinkering with the basic components of a already good varient. You’re basically making half the map useless until it’s time for overshield. That’s dumb.
-put the brs back
-put ov back
-put the strong hold layout back
-taking out storms is smart. Less easy camping killss.
I won’t comment on flag or slayer cause it’s not professionally played. But in my opinion you’ve these changes have ruined a good game. Aside from taking out storm. This is horrible.
Moving the Pit stronghold to Outside basically renders the entire Tower side of the map irrelevant save for the Overshield. The flow of the map is now entirely concentrated around the Outside route, and it makes map control a useless thing. Played two games of it last night and I’ve never seen so many sneak-caps in a Strongholds game before - it was ridiculous.
