I can’t help but notice the emphasis 343 has put on emblems. In 3 and Reach, emblems were the only customizeable feature (besides color) that didn’t have to be unlocked. In 4, they added the ability to unlock emblems, but started you off with a good amount. There weren’t too many emblems, though.
In Halo 5, there are 305 emblems. For reaching certain SRs, you unlock certain emblems. For completing commendations, you get emblems.
In Halo 4, leveling up and completing commendations earned you new armor pieces and weapon skins, things that can be seen in-game, and actually feel like a reward.
Another thing to note: in Halo Reach, you could scroll over to the player list on the left, which included the names of the players, and see their armor.
In Halo 4, you could look at the player cards on the bottom and see their names and armors.
In Halo 5, there’re 1-3 lines of emblems that you can look at, with no names or armors attached. During the game, the emblem cannot be seen.
Strange how Halo 5 put such an emphasis on emblems, isn’t it?
EDIT: Emblems aren’t even shown on your armor anymore, like they were in 2, 3, and Reach, making them even LESS important.
