So after the flight ive learned that player emblems in halo infinite are not customizable like they are in the MCC and all of other halo games. They are now just set emblems with colours and you can only have the option to pick that emblem. Not even a option to pick colours or mix and match them. This needs to be addressed and talked about here in the forums. What do you think about this and would you miss to have your emblem that you’ve probably had for years. I know I would.
There’s a chance this was just missing from the flight, considering that certain promotions claim to give out emblems.
If, however, emblems cannot be customized by mixing foregrounds and backgrounds or colors, then that’s a problem. It would go against their philosophy of making the game about maximizing player expression. You can’t maximize player expression if emblems, banners/playercards, and their colors are tied together. I really hope 343 isn’t regressing so incredibly hard. Features and functionality should be added, not removed.
It would be nice to see a more dedicated emblem creator or even an upload system in which you could upload an image as your emblem, just as you could upload a profile picture on Xbox Live. Easy to screen, as well.
I am sure more customization will be available at launch than was shown in the flight. customizable emblems is pretty essential imo.
They completely stuffed up the emblems. Making them only customizable on waypoint and the lack of freedom didn’t feel great.
If they just copy-pasted the MCC emblems tbh i would be completely fine with that.
Yeah 343 should just copy paste MCC. This alongside armor coatings is just gonna make me hate looking at my spartan

Actually, it was better in 5, since at least you could change the colors.
As this was a flight, and not the full look at the game I think you may be jumping the gun thinking they will have no customisation. The waypoint app did indeed have emblem customisation options but they were seemingly limited in that area, as the rest of the beta stage app was of course. Only time will tell.

I hope they are just in development and the limited customisation in the app does not reflect the scope of the final build. Perhaps full colour, background and nameplate customisation will come in the final game.
But I am sceptical. Nothing suggested that any further emblem customisation options are coming. I fear we will be stuck with the limited system seen in the preview. Such a shame if true given all the improvements made in player expression made in other areas.
I would speculate that there may be concern regarding players combining emblem and background elements to create something offensive. It may be possible, but surely anything that does cause this problem can be restricted by removing the combination, or at worst the emblem itself.
Don’t let a few bad eggs ruin a beloved, long-standing feature of the games for everyone else.
